Well, if you remove all traces the Confederacy, don't you remove a lot of the reminders and teachable moments regarding slavery?

 

We all laughed at the Rooskies for tearing down Stalin stuff, and then the next guy and the next. We thought the Chinese were a bunch of nuts for their purges and eradicating the names of past Chairmen, out of favor. Now we are doing it, or starting to, as well.

Waving the flag in front of a bunch of peoples face is one thing. Changing history is another. Statutes were erected at one time because the people being memorialized were heroes at that point in time. Right or wrong. Besides, you can tear down every statute in the land, change every Lee street to Mohammed Street, change every school name to Obama, and it will do NOTHING to fix ANYTHING of substance.

Feeling good is not doing good! Changing the past is on the level of North Korea!

Some of these people need to visit other countries. The US is great.

 

NY Yankees, Yankees offend some. Next the Saints? I know Redskins have been one that has fought to keep the name, even some Native Americans were honored at a Redskins games, and had no problem with the name. In fact no one has called to place displeasure in the name, no NA group that is.

I think most are like me in that, I really don't give a shit about too many things. As long as I can do the things I love and enjoy and people leave me alone, I'm cool.

i think confederate memorials were put up during the civil rights era should be taken down. those that were put up during reconstruction should stay. unless they have other dark history, like forrest who was a kkk wizard

Should we remove all statues of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson etc because they owned slaves? Where does it end?
