Not that I'm a big diehard softball fan, but since WHEN does a team, ranked 5th nationally, gets a 10 SEED in a tournament AND have to travel half-way across the freak'n country to play??!?!?!?!?!?! :dis:

Did we simply not put in a bid to host a regional??? And if not, WTF?! You mean that there are no closer regionals than Palo Alto???

I dont know all that much about softball either but I do know they are building a new softball complex so they can host regionals in the future.

the #1,2, & 5 seeds in the nation get a #5, 11, 10 seed.. if UT bama & LSU make it through regionals UT could play UCLA, UA could have to travel to pac-10 country to play washington or could play a finally healthy and hott UGA team, and LSU who just won the SEC and is prob a top 4 team in the country has to travel to pac-10 country for regionals and could have the honor in the super-regional to traveling to pac-10 country again to play ASU (PAC 10 bias maybe just a lil)

    RPI RANKING B4 THIS WEEK
    http://web1.ncaa.org/app_data/weeklyrpi/2007WSBrpi1.html
it seems the softball committee used RPI ranking heavily on their selections and in my opinion if you just rank by RPI you are a dumb and lazy committee.. if bball would do this kentucky (13 RPI) would have been on the 4 line/ arizona would have been on the 5 line/ louisville would have been on the 10 (all of which would have been horribly incorrect).. i have been looking to see if i could find out who was on the committee but i cant!!! obviously no SEC reps were in the room!

FROM THE ADVOCATE SUNDAY MORNING B4 SELECTIONS http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/7484342.html
“I cannot outthink the (selection) committee because they do bizarre things,” LSU softball coach Yvette Girouard said. “I don’t know if we’ve lost the super regional by not winning the (regular season) conference. No one really knows who the one through eight is. It’s a toss-up. Had we won the conference, I’d say we were a lock. I stopped guessing a long time ago.”

pretty much sums it up perfectly!

Been busy all afternoon and just getting around to analyzing how bad we got screwed and I can promise you we got screwed and no grease either. Just look at a handful of the seedings:
    >If you want to see how bad we got screwed?<

I pulled part of a piece that explains it better than I can but they don't have to give ANY credence to the polls in seeding. WTF huh.

    Tournament play and team selection
I'm not only pulling for LSU but also against Arizona St. they need to lose

we're not the only ones that can complain.
#3 Oklahoma has to travel to Umass
#8 Baylor has to travel to Hofstra ????
and Michigan is the #9 seed?
I hope we get to play them in Oklahoma City.

I guess the committee is telling the college coaches who vote on the NFCA poll that they don't know squat and they know better. That is crap!!!

ALL EIGHT teams from the Pac-10 made it.
Ten teams from the state of California made it.

Think the committee has a bias toward teams from California??

LSU, Bama, and Tennesse have the three best records in the nation.

True, and the whole idea of "32 teams....." originated so teams wouldn't have to travel far so fanbases could see their teams. Being softball's popularity isn't close to that of football/baseball, it was supposed to help with fan support.

Looks like politics has taken over that too......might splain why UCLA has won 11 and Az. St. 7 College World Series. Don't tell me not having to travel, go to different time zone, play away from fans, not on playing on your field, not sitting in your dugout, doesn't factor in. :(

It absolutely factors in. When I read the information regarding LSU's seeding and travel to Cali, I thought there had to be an error in reporting. Has such a thing ever been done to another NCAA softball team with similar records and rankings? I would be interested in who is on the committee. BTW, I'm not whining...okay maybe I AM whining. Seems pretty damn unfair to me.
