Usually the proof needed to fire a coach is if attendance below the acceptable quantity of people in the seats, whatever that may be for a particular sport. Although South Carolina fans show up to their football games regardless but I'd say that is the exception, rather than the rule.
Even more than that, I would say the big money contributors to TAF and other people that carry a lot of political capital at LSU have a say on whether they want a coach gone or not.
