Kind of ironic how Shy will be eligible to play against the very same team he injured his knee against last year. Some may not share this sentiment but I will be happy to hear "Shyrone Carey carries" (hopefully) on Saturday.
Hatcher I am with you on this one. My fiance(tigerlandgal) were discussing this yesterday. We sure can use him on punt returns and kickoff returns. He may not be as fast as Green but he is just as quick. Hopefully this will help with the special teams. I wonder how much we will see him in the backfield though. GEAUX TIGERS!!! Look out Dogs here we come.
I agree. I think Carey will be returning kicks Sat, he did it last season very well. But where does he rank on the RB depth chart? With Addia, JV, and AB how do we get him in there? If the MissST game goes the way I think it will, plenty of players will see playing time. So we may have a lot of chances to get Carey the ball on O, as well as in the return game.
I don't think he gets many carries this season, he could see some reps as the 3rd down back, but with JV, Alley, and Addai clearly ahead of him I bet he doesn't get many touches running the ball.
Clearly ahead of him? I think Carey can mix it up with JV and Addai assuming he is in top shape, knows the play book and is in Coach Saban's good graces. Shyrone Carey is one of those guys who can remind you of how talented he his in one good game. He's coming back at a good point in time and vs a very bad team. I think there is no question he will return kicks this weekend - in the Auburn game we had NO RETURNS and Carey would have made a real contribution on special teams had he played. Look out for #2 Saturday...
I like Carey and I think he might be able to contribute. However, I think missing the 1st 3 games really sets him back. I hope he gets a chance against MSU this weekend, because if he doesn't show well this weekend, I doubt he'll play much against UGA & UF. I think Skyler is the #1 return guy, but if he isn't healthy Shy would be my choice. I think Addai does a great job on 3rd down, so I'd keep him in that role. Is there any chance Carey could get back a year of eligibility? I don't recall if he was a partial qualifier.
I'm telling you, Carey will play this year and I think we will see a spark from him this Saturday. It happens all the time in sports, a player is fit into the puzzle and the team just clicks - Carey could be that player for this team on some level. Carey is mega talented and although I don't really see a fit for him right away in this offense, I think he will get touches if he can prove he hasn't lost a step. Think back over the last couple of years... Carey is GOOD!
