1. At LSU Nick tended to wait until there was a conviction/confession and did not dismiss or suspend a player immediately upon accusation and arrest.
  2. The REAL story will be when it comes to light that Vick's co-defendants -- Pookie, Lookie, and Dookie -- are all Saban's recruits! :hihi:
  3. Baton Rouge. I don't recall the name of the place, as it's been 5 years since I lived there, but it was your typical fratty meat-market with horrible dance club music, too-expensive beer, and vain men (the worst kind of man, and the worst kind of vain).
  4. Yep. And almost every bar that LSU students go to have dress codes.
  5.

I can honestly say, I've never owned a pickup truck, 4X4 of any make or put on a pair of cowboy boots. Hell, I don't even own a pair of jeans.

I've owned 8 vehicles, every one of them a Honda. (short stint with the Nissan Maxima...went back to the Accord.

Looking for the '08 Accord Coupe...hear it's going to be sharp.

I understand...don't do the dance music thing. Hell, I've had people in the downtown area (and this is a true story) tell me things like "My sports coat is worth more than what you are wearing head to toe." The thing that made it funny is the guy didn't recognize the pair of Ferragamo's I was wearing...found out as he progressed in his drinking he was a train engineer.
  6. saban is disliked here, but he's not in trouble in T town. He's experienced in the college ranks, heck he may want to make an example of someone to set the tone for the program. I expect him to handle this just fine. Does sound like one kid may be looking for a new football program.

But I still don't like saban...

Let's keep an eye on this, but I don't expect it to be much of a hiccup for nick.
  7. Please..........southern folks should never attempt to mock a fellow southern. You know , the whole pot -kettle thing.

The "whistling past the graveyard" saying, alludes to a false sense of bravado.
Get in touch with your southern roots man. Collectively, we are the best group in this country.

  8. You really need to take a step back and get a cowboy caddy:

When you are ready to step up to a little higher quality footwear, I suggest some MB or Lucchese Gators. I like the Peanut Brittle better, but the Belly is very nice.

  9. I am interested in how you will know what action CNS takes unless he announces it. None of the players arrested were starters and probably not going to be unless there are injuries to those ahead. So when they are sitting on the bench is it because they are being punished or is it because better players were on the field. I find it doubtful that given what we know of this incident and the lack of previous history that any players will be booted. We shall see.
  10. This is not a surprise to me. Shula was notorious for letting the inmates run the asylum over there, so it was expected that Saban would have to clean up a lot of his mess, the same way he had to deal with the problems stemming from the mess DiNardo left him when he arrived at LSU.

I'm sure there are going to be some people on here who will come out and try to revise one of the best parts about Nick's tenure at LSU- player discipline- in order to denigrate him. Probably with unfounded, vague accusations that "It was well known that Nick had a lot of problems swept under the rug." I can't speak for what's going on at Alabama, but I do know that when Saban was here, off the field player discipline was pretty much not an issue, which is impressive given the general attitude and morale of the players he inherited from DiNardo. Occasionally things will happen, dealing with such a large number of college students, but I don't think in Nick's entire 5 years here we had as much off the field turmoil in as we did in one month this offseason.

In 2002, I'm sure it would have been really easy for Nick to cover up the Damien James thing if he really wanted to. James was not arrested, and it probably could have been swept under the rug. Instead, he set an example for the rest of the team by dismissing a 5th year senior with 6 games left in the season, even though his defense was ranked #1 nationally at that point in the season, and there was a real possibility that it would be a costly move to do so.

There will be growing pains like this, but Nick will do fine over there. He will just have to ruffle a few feathers like he did here.
