So your QB is kicked off the team and you look to replace him with one kicked off another team?

Quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, whose extraordinary talents on the field at LSU were often overshadowed by off-the-field problems that finally forced his expulsion from the team, could wind up playing in Alabama.

The Birmingham News has learned Jacksonville State head coach Jack Crowe has had contact with the Perrilloux family.

JSU has received a release from LSU to talk to the 21-year-old LaPlace, La., native, who played as a backup to Matt Flynn in the Tigers' 2007 national championship season.

"All I have done is due diligence," Crowe said. "We will not compromise the integrity of our program."

The 21-year-old Perrilloux was suspended three times at LSU over the past year. He missed spring training this year for reportedly skipping team meetings and classes. In the fall, he was suspended for his involvement in a fight at a night spot near the LSU campus. He was later cleared.

Last spring he was suspended for the summer after he was stopped from entering a casino with a false ID.

In late 2006, he was questioned by federal law enforcement officials in a counterfeit money investigation. He was not charged with any crime.
LSU coach Les Miles kicked Perrilloux off the team on Friday, saying in a statement, "Ryan was given every opportunity to be a part of this football team. In the end, he didn't fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete. We hope that a new beginning will benefit him."

Perrilloux can transfer without sitting out a year only if he goes to a non-Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A) program.

Jacksonville State is one of at least three state teams that have holes at quarterback.

Crowe kicked his 2007 starter, Cedric Johnson, off the team for violation of team rules following the season.

No question he would be a huge physical improvement over anything they could have dreamed of.

RP has to much physical talent, there are plenty of coaches that will take him. If he wouldn't have to sacrifice a year, he'd get plenty of Div. 1 offers.
