1. BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell, injured in the Southeastern Conference Championship game against Georgia, will be limited in practice when the Tigers begin their preparations Friday for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Russell separated his left shoulder in the Dec. 3 game.
On Tuesday, a series of X-rays showed that the injury is continuing to heal and that he could be out of a sling in a week to 10 days, leaving open the possibility of a postseason return. Russell officially is listed as questionable for the game against No. 9 Miami on Dec. 30 in Atlanta.
"It feels a lot better than last week," Russell said. "I can do some things with it, move it a little, but haven't been able to do too much because it is in a sling."
The separation is in Russell's non-throwing shoulder, but he has not thrown a football since he was injured in the 34-14 loss to Georgia.
Throughout the latter part of the season, LSU coach Les Miles limited Russell's practice repetitions and sometimes gave him Monday and Tuesday off, letting him rest his right wrist that was injured in against Florida on Oct. 15. Russell did not miss a start in 2005, finishing third in the SEC in passing efficiency (136.5 rating) and sixth in yards per game (202).
In the SEC championship game, LSU backup Matt Flynn was 3-for-11 for 36 yards with a touchdown and an interception while Russell underwent initial tests in the locker room.
If Russell could not play, Flynn would start.

Seems as if JR is getting better he is listed as questionable still. I just want him healthy for next year. Would not mind seeing Flynn start. I think it might be the first time in his career, it would be interesting to see how he controls the offense.
  2. Our WR's have had a hard time catching the ball when it hits them between the eyes so you might as well let JR heal and see what Flynn can do.
  3. I think JR will try to give er a go if he can...

I don't know if that is good or bad, though, because if he isn't healthy, I don't know if he can help the team...

I think Flynn can do a nice job though
  4. Russell shouldn't play. It's not worth the risk IMO.

Let Flynn get in there & let's see what he can do when he has an entire game from start to finish.
  5. I don't think Russell should play. This would give a real good look at Matt. This game should be to say good-bye to the Seniors, and get a look as some talent for next year. :geauxtige
  6. I don't think Russel should start, but hopefully be well enough to be the back-up for the game.
  7. While JR could potentially reinjure the shoulder, I don't think that reinjury would be career threatening. If he is well enough to go, great. If he can't play cause it still hurts too much (and it will hurt), then it goes to Flynn. If he tried and can't go, it goes to Flynn. If Flynn gets hurt and JR couldn't go, watch out for Skyler or Early back there. Talk about triple option???
  8. I'm not too thrilled about Flynn's 3-for-11 in the SECCG. I hope he's as eager to correct that as much as I am eager for him to correct it because that's not a very good stat line to say the least. Especially since the initial article on the threat stated that Russell had been given less reps in practice due to him being "dinged" since the Florida game, which would indicate Flynn getting more snaps in practice for some time now...
  9. In the SECCG I saw a LOT of dropped balls, absolutely no running game and a decent pass rush by Gawga. Flynn has a long way to go but I put little to none of the loss on him in that one. Reps are nice but don't in any way compare to actual game play especially in other than mop up duty. MF has been given almost no mop up and the SECCG was the first real game time he had all year.
  10. Let JR do the Davey Treatment. Go home, eat Momma's cookin', pack on 40 lbs., and come back better than ever.
