The CEO of the Rose Bowl said when it came down to it there was no way LSU could have been picked over Michigan as an at-large selection, but that the large number of tickets Tigers fans ordered could help LSU land an invitation in the future.

Still, Dorger said he was impacted by the effort LSU and its fans put into landing a bid.
“Had it worked out that way this year, we would have certainly welcomed LSU to the game with open arms,” said Dorger, who was born in Virginia and lived in Mississippi and Alabama. “It didn’t work out that way, and no one is more upset than my son and daughter-in-law (she attended LSU Law School).

I like that me made an impression, but I think the opportunity was a rare one and may not happen again. It would almost definitely require another situation identical to this one (SEC champ not us in Sugar, Big Ten or Pac-10 champ or both in title game, us with good enough season to get in). We would have to have a season similar to this one, and not go to Atlanta. The loser of the SEC CG has never gone to a BCS bowl. Especially now that their is a Title game other than just the 4 big bowls.

I guess we have to wait til the 2010 Rose Bowl LSU! . In the meantime we could start a BCS tour. Sugar 07, Sugar 08, Orange 09, Rose 10', and Fiesta 11', sound good?

I agree. The Rose Bowl is committed to the Pac 10 and the Big 10 both contractually and emotionally. Things would have to fall just right for LSU to have another shot at the Rose Bowl, and I believe the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Sounds good to me, except that I would pick the National Championship Game in 08.

Bengal means he would rather be in the NC game vs. the Sugar Bowl next year (both being played at the Superdome).
