I'm looking at some recent satellite loops, and it looks like it's drifting to the WNW over the last few hours. Is it supposed to break that early? Or is this normal wobbling?
Even if it hits over into Texas, anyone want to predict the kind of rain and wind that Baton Rouge will see on Saturday night?
I have noticed that as well.....its common for a strong hurricane like this to wobble, but it also seems to be more of a constant move toward the WNW. I know the High is supposedly weakening, maybe its weakening faster than anticipated. who knows?
In my honest opinion....if it hits Houston/Galveston or mainly anywhere East of there, i really don't see how this game is played Sat. night.
I think the game will definitely be played if it hits the Galv/houston area. There is no way Baton Rouge will get heavy winds if it hits that far east. It will definitely rain alot though.
The good news for the Baton Rouge area is that the high over North Texas is not expected to move off of us until Friday. We've had 100 degree weather all week, and tomorrow is set to be a record-breaker at 101. I think Texas is the target.
From Weather.com There is some good news. Doesn't mean that people shouldn't worry, but the fact is that because it stregnthened so quickly and has so far to go to hit land it might not be as dangerous as it looks right now.
The only problem with this, is that it may have a chance to weeken and then restregthen because it is soo far out.
