This translates into Category 5, if I'm not mistaken.

You are correct sir. And the difference between this storm and Katrina is when Katrina was strenghting the eye wall kept breaking down and rebuliding which is what most storms do. This one has gone from a Cat 1 at 10 oclock LAST Night to a Cat 5 17 hours later and the eye has NEVER lost its shape.

I have never seen a storm get so strong so fast and stay in a perfect shape.

I guess those gulf waters were rather warm after all.I've haerd numerous conflicting reports about Katrina sturring up the water and cooling it down. The way this bad girl looks those waters weren't affected for that long.

:cuss: Just go away Rita, you Mexican prosititue.:cuss:

Dude, 165?!?! Look how much gulf it has left! I made a joke about 300mph earlier, but suddenly, that doesn't seem so farfetched.

Look Ft Hood is about 400 miles inland and we just had a meeting at the unit and they are predicting 60 to 80 mph sustained winds with gust over 100 mph 400 miles INLAND!

I live in Dallas, and we're already under a tropical storm advisory for Saturday night/Sunday morning. With the way things are going, Rita may still be a decent hurricane when she comes a knockin' up here.
