No free passes for someone who puts reputations above the welfare of abused children. It was not a single bad decision at the end of his career, it was a series of daily decisions that went on for over eight years. screw Paterno and screw the entire Penn State administration. RIP ???? Not unless the "R" stands for repent !!

I'm not intentionally trying to 'rub salt in your wound', so to speak, but I'm curious as to what you disagree with. How can he have 'remarkable contributions to humanity' when he buried his head in the sand to one of the worst crimes against humanity that one can commit?
Based on the irrational, vitriolic attacks on JOEPA, this thread has really touched a nerve with some of you. It is somewhat stunning. I hope old memories have not been awakened, or old wounds opened by this terrible tragedy. I know I have posted a number of items supporting JOEPA. I apologize for stirring the pot. Healing all the way around needs to take place. I will post nothing more on this thread. I am sorry for the obvious pain I may have caused.
It's just that people gloss over child molestation because it's so horrible that people can't admit that it's real...that it really happens. That's why they tend to say things like "If that happened to my son..." instead of "If that happened to me...". It's very real. You know someone that it happened to....personally. Because it's estimated that it happens to as many as one in five children (both male and female). Nothing irrational or vitriolic about it at all.
Oh, by the way, Halloween run...thanks for the negative rep calling me both harsh and wrong. You should be introspective instead of sarcastic.
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTZQAGx9rDY]Nike CEO Phil Knight speech at Joe Paterno Memorial 1-26-2012 - YouTube[/ame] Some people just get it and have the courage to speak others grab on to what the media offers. If you look for this on ESPN it has been edited to fit their need to distance themselves from the assassination of a decent man! I always felt that LSU was a family that protected what they hold dearest. We at PSU do. Not one person at PSU finds the horrible act that JERRY SANDUSKY committed OK. We are as sick as you but Joe Paterno knowing what we all know now wished he had done more than reporting to the appropriate personnel as part of the chain of command under the rules of employment. I expect you feel he ran our university but that is incorrect. If that were the case how did he get fired. For years people have made remarks regarding his age , he is senile ,he doesn't even coach, he poops in his pants etc. I always respected LSU as a university and also their fan base. The investigation is complex and is far from over and before you condemn us as a whole or individually I ask that you wait until the investigation is completed and then your judgement of us would be valid.
