Of the SEC quarterbacks that we know a lot about (which basically excludes Flynn), here's my rankings for THIS YEAR ONLY:

    1. Andre Woodson, Kentucky
    2. Blake Mitchell, South Carolina
    3. Erik Ainge, Tennessee
(I think the top 3 are pretty clear, but the next few are difficult to pick)
    4. Tim Tebow, Florida
    5. Matthew Stafford, Georgia
    6. Brandon Cox, Auburn
    7. John Parker Wilson, Bama
    8. Chris Nickson, Vandy
(and bringing up the rear, these guys really aren't SEC calibre QBs)
    9. Casey Dick, Arkansas
    10. Michael Henig, Mississippi State
    11. The two-headed monster of Brent Schaeffer and the guy who isn't Brent Schaeffer at Ole Miss

Yes, he is 1-0 as a starter. Last year, he completed 60% of his passes with a 6.65 yards/attempt average while throwing mostly to backups. In his career, he's passed for 689 yards on 78 attempts. He has a very solid career 10-2 touchdown to interception ratio, but in three years as a player he has only once been counted on to come through as the man, and there won't be a single SEC starting QB this year who took fewer meaningful snaps last year. Even Tebow took a LOT more meaningful snaps last year.

Therefore, I'm excluding him. If I had to guess at his skill level, I'd say he falls into that first group, but nothing is certain.

    WOW!

I guess I never put it on paper in front of my eyes like that before, but this may be the weakest SEC QB class in a very long time.

Woodson is the only top tier QB in the SEC. I am not just talking about NFL talent, I wouldn't choose any of those other guys to take me to the next level.

    1. Andre Woodson, Kentucky. Great athlete that leads a sup-par, but on the rise team.
    2. Blake Mitchell, South Carolina. Product of SS
    3. Erik Ainge, Tennessee. Nowhere near what he should be.
    4. Tim Tebow, Florida. We'll see. I'm not buying it until he has to throw the football 25 times a game.
    5. Matthew Stafford, Georgia. Maybe could develope into something.
    6. Brandon Cox, Auburn. Must be a 7th year senior. Seems like he has been there for ever. Can't win without top 5 running game supporting him.
    7. John Parker Wilson, Bama. Has the most potential of the bottom of the league.
    8. Chris Nickson, Vandy. Flashy at times. We'll see.
    9. Casey Dick, Arkansas. McFadden at QB. Nuff said.
    10. Michael Henig, Mississippi State. Poor dude. May be ok if he had any help.
    11. Brent Schaeffer, Ole Miss. Great runner, horrible passer.

No household names like we usually have. No JR or Leak type guys that everyone in the country knows about. Almost weird.

id guess that flynn will end up 4. i dont think he'll have as good #s, or pro potential as the others so that will keep him down the list in the eyes of the world. lsu will have a better season than all the others though.

I'm with you Red, I think you have to kinda put Flynn in that spot, but he has the potential to climb a few spots ver quickly.

I don't really think of Kentucky as being "on the rise". I think they caught lightning in a bottle with Woodson, and once he's gone, they're gone. Woodson was the best QB in the conference not named Jamarcus Russell last year, but they had an absolutely terrible defense and the second lowest yards/rush average in the conference.

They pass, and that's it. They had a 1000 yard rusher, but their overall rushing game was terrible (compare that to LSU, who didn't even have a 500 yard rusher, but had the 2nd or 3rd best overall rushing attack in the conference). Their defense was terrible too. All they can do competently at this point is pass, and once their great passer is gone, that will be all for them.

LOL, Ok let me re-phrase. A team that 5 years ago wouldn't have won 4 games even with Woodson.

    Better? :hihi:
