    NELA_Tigerfan When's kickoff?

Not very many QB's in his shoes can do what he's doing. He wasn't supposed to start for another year at least.

Think back to the first half of the Auburn game and tell me you felt better about the QB situation then; I was thinking we'd do good to win 4 or 5 games.

He's doing better than I expected considering his experience, and has a ton of potential...

63% completions; how can you argue with that?

    Bandit88,

If the Hatch package is that predictable, why did we get our go-ahead TD from a pass by Hatch? Surely one of the best coaches of all time would have known what was coming if it was that predictable. Hatch has done some good things for the Tigers. We needed a change of pace at times with our O because it just wasn't happening for a while. I don't see anything wrong with that as long as Lee is not on the bench for a whole series or whatever. They mixed them well on that drive and you can't argue with the result.

I hear you. But it is that predictable. Because I predicted every Hatch play except the shuffle pass and the TD.

Lee could've run the same TD play with the same result. Lee needs the reps. LSU will need him more experienced and confident for the last two games - SEC CG and bowl.

Folks can criticize this post as much as they like. My thoughts on Lee are this, he has problems with his accuracy, he relies on his arm a bit more than he should by not getting his feet set to throw. On routes longer than 10 yards, he has problems hitting the moving target. What I saw during the game after he threw the pick is him dancing in the pocket. He almost threw another pick, when all he has to do is step up in the pocket to avoid the rush. He overthrows alot of receivers, some of those balls should have been caught, but still he has to bring that ball down just a bit. He is much better on timing routes, when he doesnt stare down the receiver. Miles told him, he cant make those type of throws, he needs him to help win the game. Which he did during the 3rd and 4th quarter. Id like to see him get faster and improve his accuracy. Right now, I think he has the tools, but he is showing how young he is, which is normal. I think more coaching and drills will help this guy.

:geaux::crystal::helmet: Totally agree. He's been thrown in the fire and has done exceptionally well considering his experience level. I had the same thoughts during the first half of the Auburn game. I was really thinking it was going to be an ugly season. Hatch is just not a passing threat consistently throughout a game and teams don't fear him throwing the ball. Hatch is not going to beat a team throwing downfield. His touchdown pass to R. Dickson against SC is the type of pass you'll see most out of Hatch. He is not a threat to stretch the field vertically. He does do other things that Lee doesn't do well such as the option, although I did notice Lee pitching off on the option during the SC game. He'll get better at that. I like Hatch, but I think Lee is more of the type of QB LSU needs to successful now and in the long term.
Is Lee at the level we would like him to be at? No, but he will get there. He's a cool customer and from what I've heard the players like and repect him and say he a leader on the field. He's got that look and presence about him and I think he'll be a great field general for LSU for the next few years. He makes throws that Hatch can't even think about making. Every game makes Lee better and he learns more. He's gonna be OK. :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:

I think that's a very fair break down of Lee.

He's got the skills, he just needs the experience and coaching to become great. I think a lot of people use the term "diamond in the rough", well, we're seeing the very rough part right now but every once in awhile you see that glimmer of something to come.

More than fair assessment and I'm sure most will agree with you. Saying what you said above, which QB do you think gives us a better chance to win?

I think you play both of them right now, Im the first to say, that I trust Miles and I dont have an answer any more than the expert does. So I am just really relaying my thoughts on the position. They did something Sat. Night I was really glad to see. They did a misdirection play with Hatch throwing the ball for a touchdown. Hatch doesnt have an arm at all, that pass took all day to get their, but it was the right play at the right time. I will say this, Hatch manages the game 5 times better than Lee at this point. Which has alot to do with nerves. If Hatch had any kind of arm, Id be comparing him to Matt Flynn.

Dickson was wide open over the middle.

Where are the Lee apologists now?
