Isn't it interesting. He's won two tough games against quality opponents with gutsy, win-oriented calls that worked and, to my eye, were based on his awareness of the game and his assessment of his talent. Yet folks call it stupid.

My theory: if Miles had a gift for the spoken word, the media and many others would be telling a completely different story. But he often struggles in interviews - he's not smooth at all. So, in the age of instant visual communication, he comes across as relatively unintelligent.

Anyone know anyone else like that?

I disagree. I've heard him speak here in Shreveport and he came across as pretty sharp to me. Now I do agree that he's not very "smooth" in his presentation but definitely doesn't come across as "unintelligent".

Sometimes. My opinion, though - he's not great on his feet. Uses the same phrases over and over (...enjoy a quality opponent...quality football team....etc. (there's more, but I'm tired so I'm drawing a blank - you know what I'm talking about, though))

Hell. Who cares. I think he's had a damn fine career at LSU so far. I honestly don't care if he talks like Archie Bunker if he keeps winning 12 a year!

True. But I think CLM gets a bad rap from some for his play calls because he can't articulately explain them. It's too bad because I think he's doing a GREAT job.

Well he lost Auburn last year IMO on 3 3/4 quarters of stupid playcalling but no, it wasn't one call in particular. It was about 53 bad draw play calls.

But I loudly agree with the premise of this thread. If they don't pressure JPW then that little nothing of a QB will pick LSU apart straight to a Bama win.

I think what 99.9% of the people have a problem with is the clock management on the last play. I love playing to win and think it was a great call. However with so much time left on the clock when the play came in from the side line plus a time out left there is no way it should have been close enough for the talking heads to even mention it as a bonehead call. The play call and execution were great, the clock management was very poor. I don't care if there really should have been 4 seconds left on the clock it was poor clock management. That being said I'd rather lose playing to win than win playing not to lose. I know what Miles said on TV and in interviews but you can bet they worked on doing a better job of watching the clock in practice the last two weeks.
