FloridaHawk82, you and your coworkers are another example of what makes this country great. Although we battled on the gridiron eight months ago, here you are coming to our aid in this time of need. We won't forget your genourosity. The Hawkeyes just gained another fan in CO. :thumb:
Prayers from Alabama... our resturant (and a Bama bar) in Montgomery will be doing a "Cajun Relief" within one week (maybe two, need to do major planning)... We've had many LSU fans visit here on their journey to Auburn and we want to repay... In this time, all SEC football fans and others need to ban together... forget the trash talk, which we all like, and join a common cause that is greater... Will give details later for Montgomery locals... Keep the Faith! My heart really bleeds for you Cajuns. God bless you.
Prayers from Georgia as well. Words probably can't well express the sympathy that all of us outside of the area feel for all in the path of this storm. Relief efforts will be coming from the whole region. God Bless!
COTiger, thanks for the comments. You are correct that times like this are when our great country really shines. I volunteered alongside hundreds of people from all over the country who came to Iowa to help us during the 1993 floods of the Mississippi. We have never forgotten the enormous outpouring of generosity. The main reason I posted the info about our corporate fundraiser was to encourage everyone to give what they can or organize a fund drive. 1. Request that your business/company match employee contributions. 2. Email/Call your friends and relatives to give what they can. 3. Donate directly at http://www.redcross.org/ or call 1-800-HELPNOW My 5 year-old son came home yesterday from his elementary here in Iowa with a flyer that their school is doing a a donation drive this week for The Red Cross. My wife said when my son got home he brought her his piggy bank and said he wanted to "give it to the people he sees on TV". Every little bit counts. Also, my daughter who is a sophmore at The Univ. of Iowa informed me that her sorority leadership is meeting with all of the other sororities and fraternities to quickly organize a fundraiser for the hurricane victims. This is another great idea to pass along, as these college kids can raise enormous amounts of money for things like this. I've seen them do it before. God Bless and all of our prayers are with you.
Prayers from the Auburn nation as well. Bama is right. Now is the time for SEC folks to ban together. The "trash talkin' can come later... I will say a prayer tonite for eveyone's family.
