PS, years ago I felt sorry for the university of Alabama and what their program had become, what their fans had become. Now we are in that same boat it appears.
OK, let me admit up front that I missed any threads that discussed the choosing of sides depending on the wind. I don't want to hijack this thread, but why should a coach care which way the wind is blowing when choosing sides in OT? Both teams offense would have to deal with it. I would trust J. Russell to overcome the some of the wind with the pace that he puts on the ball. Plus, in this case, I think that Coach Miles kind of figured that Jackson was more mentally prepared to kick into the wind than the AU kicker. Jackson had only missed once while the AU guy missed 4 at that point. But honestly, I don't think that any of that thinking went into it. When we get the choice... we go to the Student section.
I agree 1000% When we beat Tenn in OT under Saban we went to the student section. Who cares about the wind because your team has to kick in it also. Auburn all night had problem with the noise notice no timeouts on the last drive. You send the team to the student section!!!!!!!!!!
Now wait a minute, I don't agree with the hatred and the vile. I've never denegraded the coaches or thought the world was coming to and end. I'm not trying to give good reason for any of that just pointing out that many people are suspect of this coaching staff until proven otherwise. I do think this has happened because our defense played so poorly the first 2 games. I don't see a problem with talking about the offensive woes of this team right or wrong. I don't know if your right about some fans but maybe that comes after winning a championship? I'm optimistic about the defense! EDIT: I've been watching football for 30 years and have never seen a coach not go with the wind. In hindsight maybe I was wrong but this thread was suppose to be optimistic and not about this one point. I'll take it as a correction and admit that maybe I was wrong. I can't wait to rewatch this game tomorrow!
The way I see it is like this: I was always an LSU baseball fan...ever since I could remember. Most people do NOT believe me when I tell them that I remember the 1991 team's title (because I was in first grade/7 years old,) but I do. I remember watching them every year since then with my dad. I really didn't understand WHAT LSU was, or that they even really had a football (or basketball) team. Hell I don't even think I knew that it was even IN Louisiana or stood for Louisiana State until I was about 9 or so. Point of story, it wasn't until I was in Jr. High that I saw LSU win 2 back to back titles in baseball, beat ND in a bowl game and beat number 1 florida. At the time I remember everyone wearing Miami or FSU or ND hats around school. I always wondered why. I not only WATCHED the fball games, I started FOLLOWING the team (stats, opponents, etc) in 1996 (I was like 12 remember.) That means I was REALLY a fan by the time the end fell out for dinardo in 1998. For some reason it didn't phase me too much. I knew I was a Tiger and that somehow that was better than winning and being a "hurricane." I am grateful that CNS did what he did and I am happy that we have a guy like CLM at the helm.
its reasonable to complain about things if there is good reason too. because so many factors go into whether a coach is seen as good or not, we likely wont know about miles for a few years. but that doesnt mean he gets a pass (from me, who cares). im gonna gripe about stupid things [I think] he does. if im wrong, feel free to say so, but dont give me grief about having an opinion about my tigers. all that being said. overall, i dont have a poor opinion of the coaching staff.
On the matter of which endzone, was the North Endzone the one that Vaughan had missed 4 kicks in previous to OT? There may have been more on Miles mind than just the noise if that is the case.
