Ok, since no one else will, i'll say it: Based on last night (admittedly not much to go on, but what else do we have?), i'd rather see RP start versus Virginia Tech than Matt Flynn. IMO, Flynn just doesn't have the talent to lead LSU to wins over top teams. "Protecting the ball and not making mistakes" is good enough vs the Mississippi States on the schedule but against Florida, VT, and Auburn we will need dynamic playmaking from the QB. Perrilloux? He seems to have that ability in spades. Cool and calm running the show, can run effectively when he needs to, and throws effortlessly compared to Flynn. Flynn is a top-notch character guy while we all know about RP's troubles, but right now we need a pro-level talent at QB, and that's RP not Flynn.
RP clearly has more talent, but you can't bench Matt because of thta game. He is more ready to play now IMO. We'll see just how good he can be next week against that monster VT D.
Apparently 3 passes against the SEC-Cellar-Dweller's backup defense says a lot about who should start at QB.
Are you serious? You base that on a 2 for 3 throwing performance at the end of a blowout? Perrilloux may indeed be the better QB although I doubt it, but you damn sure couldn't make any type of decision based on what little we saw of him last night. I think the coaching staff has had a little more evaluation time than those of us watching the game last night.
Oh heck yeah!!!! It's definitely football season then people start making threads about startign the backup qb!!! stephen, don't let my comment get to you though Really I am happy to see the activity that football season brings to the forum. Glad you signed up and posted!
Dude, you just stepped in it here. I agree RP looked good, but it's easy to look calm and cool when the game is already in the bag. RP is the future, but Flynn is right now. But, that being said, if Flynn pulls a Henig and starts tossing balls to VT, I fully expect him to be pulled in favor of RP.
I'm always suspicious when someone's first post on our board is a negative divisive post. Like maybe you are a fan from another school just trying to stir things up. Hopefully not but it sure struck me that way. I have complete faith in our coaching staff and players. As Saban always said, it's the process, let the process work. With new coaches and QB the chemisty will gel, just a little slower then recent years.
Since Gary James was more highly recruited, we need to play him instead of Dalton Hilliard. I expected this kind of post at some point. Don't know if you are serious or just trying to stir it up b/c this is your first post but Flynn is clearly the starter. Ryan Perrilloux's time will come and when it does he will shine brightly. Go Tigers !
