1. at the QB position. What level of play do we "settle " for?

Not blaming all this on Russell because it isn't all his fault, but from the first fumble deep in UT territory the points margin was being comprimised. He can say it was the coaches and a good bit of it was, but one can't deny JR looked exactly as he did last year, Tall, strong, athletic, an amazing physical specimen, clueless and predictable. Horrible execution.

OK lets look at the past.

Matt Mauck. ball handling abilities? yes or no?
Decent passer, short ball? Y or N?
    Deep ball? same ?
    Stealth in handoffs?
Scramble ability on a broken play?
    Read the defense?
    Leadership?
Highly touted by Rivals, High school recruit etc..?
    Highly recruited by coach?
    Athletic ability?

    Ok some hard questions now.
At what year of experience did Matt start to show leadership?

    Jamarcus Russel ..same questions
    Rohan Davey, same questions.
    Marcus Randall same questions
Josh booty same questions, Ok now go back a few years
    Tommy Hodson same questions
    ALan Risher?
who remembers when we played two QB's back in the Cholly mac era and won several games, even went bowling a good bit?
Steven Ensminger and David Woodley. hell I'd rather have either of those guys right now.

Just make a mental comparison quickly in your mind, if you're a tiger fan and have been following LSU for the last 20-30 years and can form an unbiased opinion, it will be easy.

Should JR be at least as good as Matt Mauck was his jr year? considering his touted ability? and partial playing time? or is he just not as good?
Should he be at "least" as good as Rohan? Ok he is almost better than Randall, it's a toss up.. :dis: where did the wheels fall off his wagon and when do we stop pulling him out of the mud?
OR am I WAY off here? is there something "special" in him I'm not seeing? is this blue chip recruit playing way above all these other past LSU QB's? maybe it's me? :nope:

Whats the point in all this?
Athletic ability, and being a highly touted recruit and throwing the deep ball doesn't mean squat if you can't do some of the other things... ie leadership, read defense schemes, MATURITY.

Say what you want but Randall had better legs and leadership, a team picks up on that right off. Saban knew it that's why he STAYED frustrated at Jamarcus, he KNEW! It's just hard to bench that much talent, a coach keeps thinking surely he'll come around, sadly this may be the best he has.
Even more frightening is Miles may think that's acceptable. :nope: We just need some consistancy, we have enough game breakers.

We now have our own AAron Brooks. what's next cell phone calls being made by Early Doucet in the end zone? :dis:

Hey if he is the best we have, I'm behind him EVERY time he steps on the field as long as he wears those TIGER colors, I'm his biggest fan... but can we...HE do better? is the bench better?? I have to wonder..
