Why can't there be any middle ground on the board? If someone states anything not throwing bouquets of greatness the Tigers' or Miles' way they are negative and should be told how they are not a good fan. A little constructive criticism never hurt anyone. Nor does everyone who has a criticism or gripe is calling for Miles to be fired (there are exceptions of course). Yes I am excited about a 10-1 season, but there has to be some criticism of the game plan and playcalling TODAY. The coaching staff has done a great job this year and deserves credit on a great collective season. I watched the game in Tiger Stadium today and was disappointed by the predictability in the offensive playcalling. The offense has no identity. They have nothing to hang their hat on. One series the I-form is run exclusively, then they go with the spread, the next is something else. The problem is there are only a handful of plays for each formation therefore once the formation is shown the defense knows which handful of plays to look for. I just don't understand why the offensive coaches have not been able to figure out the gameplan or the bread and butter by now. Playing close games all the time is eventually going to catch up with you (see Ohio State). Ohio State fans were upset with Tressel for not having the killer instinct and never putting the hammer down on teams. Does anybody think this LSU team could actually give USC a run for its money? Anybody who does is fooling themselves. LSU has not played consistently enough for 4 quarters at any point this season to prove they are on the same level. All the experts say we have equal talent (which I am not so sure) but I don't think LSU is on the same level of USC or Texas this year. Does that matter? - no because we still have a chance to win the SEC and that is all that really matters.

In this one instance, I will say that there is nothing wrong with middle ground. In any other instance, you would be a puss. Pick a side. :hihi:

The way to reach the middle ground is to moderate our comments, and to say something positive whenever we feel compelled to offer a negative comment.

So, here goes: If I were on this LSU Tiger team, I would feel like I just finished the most bittersweet year of my young life. Our home area was wiped out by Katrina, but we accomplished something that no LSU team ever did before: we beat Bama, Barn, Gators, Pigs and Rebels. We won 10 games, and we have the opportunity to be SEC Champs and play in the Sugar Bowl. I would also be disappointed in the way that me and some of my teammates executed in the game last night, and I would sincerely hope that we can improve and play mistake-free football for these last two games, because we looked kind of helpless out there at times last night.

    LE,

Good post. I think there is room for middle ground, and I'm probably in it with you.

The problem is that on the negative side, some people just focus on the negative. They say "Miles is an idiot" or "Miles is a bad coach". That's it, there is no balance, just negativity. This is totally wrong, and the evidence shows that it is wrong. 10-1, #3 in the nation, SEC West champs. That is a fine list of accomplishments, and it is proof that Miles is not an idiot or a bad coach. The negative side fails to mention Miles and the teams positive accomplishments, and to accurately GIVE MILES CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.

I'm kinda in the middle ground. Before the season, I picked us 9-2, 10-1 if JR or the coaches outperformed, possibly 8-3 with no outperformance by anyone. I was as unhappy with the coaching after the first 2 games as anyone.

But, the coaches and the team hung together and worked on their problems, and they turned it around. They CREATED A WINNING FORMULA, that carried them to the SEC West championship! Would we have cried for that under Archer, Hallman, Dinardo? You Betcha!

WE DO NOT HAVE A GOD GIVEN ENDOWMENT TO A TOP TEN FINISH EVERY YEAR! We have to earn it. We earned it this year. Through hard work and teamwork, our players and coaches earned it.

They weren't perfect, but no season is ever perfect. But this team played better ball than the 04 team with Saban at the helm.

I say it is ok to criticize the coaches when they do something bad. But you should keep it in perspective, and if they are winning, you have to give the coaches and players credit for what they are doing that is good. My problem with the Miles bashers is that they FAIL TO ACHIEVE BALANCE, they just bash and don't have ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY, WHEN CLEARLY IT IS DESERVED!

Timing, amigo. We just won the friggin' SEC West. We are 10-1 and ranked #3 in the nation. We are headed for the SECCG and a January bowl game. We should be overjoyed onthe day after a big game.

Constructive criticism is for slow Wednesdays and the off-season.

Mindless bitching about our own team when it is WINNING is just asinine.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to red55 again.

Whatever, reputation on this board means nothing. If you post something that somebody doesn't like then you get wacked for it. So red dot, gren dot means nothing. Each is entitled to his opinion like it or not. Deal with it or go get help. Life is going to be filled with people who do not agree with your opinion.

I noticed this and commented on it a while back. If you don't talk about how great of a job les mile's is doing, then you hate him.. if you are disappointed in a 2 point win over a 4 win team, then you are a bad fan..

by the same token, if you think lsu will beat a team that is probably better than them.. you're a homer, and if you think that a player on lsu is one of the best in the country, you have been drinking the lsu kool-aid or wearing your purple n gold glasses.. or some other internet slang..

it's getting pretty hard to express any opinion on here other than OMG LES MILES IS THE MAN!
