Man, dont act ignorant!!! JR did NOT face only ND, he played the whole freaking season in the SEC!!! And I find it offensive when you question Russell's leadership and intelligence. I dont know why people have this perception that he is not that smart but he IS. Russell made the All Academic SEC for the past 2 years, and his coaches say that he is one of the intelligent guys, where you only tell him something once and never have to repeat it to him again. Coach Fisher also said that he expects Russell to score high on the mental tests, contrary to what people are expecting.
Quinn is good, but he is one of many. And there are many question marks that surround him during big games. He played against 3 elite teams and lost all of them in blowouts with bad peformances. While Russell played at least 4-5 elite teams this season, and did a good job. Russell is a leader and a very fine QB.

Well I think you guys shouldn't go sniffing the scouts jocks so strongly just yet. These are the same guys that were giving him a hard rap last season and well into this season.

You need to remember that going into this season and pretty much toward the end of the season JR was a project to them at best. They all thought he had the physical tools but he had some major issues with decision making in critical situations. These are things they can work out in the pros and he will be fine.

Hurricane you state the last drive of the Auburn game for JR but that was one of the games that had the scouts and others questioning JR. He didn't need 5 more seconds as you suggested. JR made a bad decision and threw behind his reciever making him have to come back to the ball. If he leads the reciever and throws into the endzone LSU has strong chance to score and win. The reciever even stated that his route was to look for the ball in the endzone as called. He had every thought that JR was supposed to toss it into the EZ for him to try to grab.

Plus for you all to say that its always the centers fault on a hand off is idiotic. You try telling that to an NFL center and you might be wanting to watch who is coming up the middle on you all the time. Case in point Superbowl. Grossman fumbles the snap twice. Play by Play guys state your same thing then replay shows that low and behold whooops Rex screwed the pooch both times as the ball was there he just dropped it.

As for Quinn it is still up in the air since we really see what kind of teams he faced so you have to wonder somewhat. I think with Quinn it might all depend on what type of team he lands on and the style offense they run. With some time to learn the NFL he does have the look and some skills of a Montana (not saying he is now but he does have that kind of playing style).

Looks like you're a big Quinn fan...:hihi: I agree that the LAST throw should have been to the endzone, but who does not make faults?? Even the best out there (Peyton Manning) threw 5 INT in only 2 playoff games, and I remember Tom Brady throwing 3 INTs in one game, mistakes and bad games happen with every QB. But I have to disagree with you on the fumble, the center came out and said it, and I watched the replay and he never got the ball. If you say it's a handling the ball mistake, them I encourage you to watch the Arizona game again, he was on a shotgun formation and the snap was like 4 FEET to his left, he got it and rolled out and threw a completion, he even made it looks VERY EASY. Quinn is not a Montana and is probably going to be a bust. If he does land on a really good team and may succeed, but his chances of success are much slimmer than that of failure.

It's hard to say whether JR made a bad decision or not because there were Auburn players waiting for in the endzone...no one was open. He threw it short in the hope that maybe Craig could break a tackle and get in. The auburn player got a great jump and made a big tackle. It's easy to say that he should have thrown it in the endzone but would you rather go with the sure completion or just randomly chuck it in the enzone?
JR does need to work on his ball security though, fumbling has been an issue with him, and hopefully he doesn't end up like Culpepper where he fumbles at least once per game. With good coaching i don't see it happeningn though.

That is very true, he didnt have great ball security. But I noticed in the ND game that he had a good ball security. I think the coaches dealt with that issue. Cause I remember seeing the whole ND team trying to strip the ball from the big guy. So that wont be an issue in the pros, hopefully. But the fumble I was talking about was the snap, when he didnt get the ball.

He just needs to learn when to take the sack. All of his fumbles are from trying to stay up with three defenders hanging on him. That can be coached.

Yeah i agree with what you guys both said. And JR did fumble it against ND, he was being draped down by one guy and another defender came and knocked it out. I remember the Arkansas game on our last possession trying to run the clock out he fumbled the ball but he recovered it, i think my heart skipped a beat on that one. Its nothing experience won't fix, so that shouldn't be a problem, just a little nitpicking i guess haha.

Russel has faced defenses that would have terrified and obliterated just about anything Notre Dame had to offer.

Honestly, Alabama, who went 6-6 and was 3-6 in the SEC, could have won 8-9 games with ND's schedule. Alabama was also a lot better against ND, and they were mid-tier in the SEC last year. This coming from a Bama fan.

Notre Dame didn't belong on the same field as LSU, and the score said it.

But even I would look like a good QB against ND's schedule.

Well I don't know anything more about Quinn than watching some of his games and as I said its hard to say where he is really at knowing that many of the teams he has faced and the defenses were pretty pathetic. Will he be a bust I don't think so, Is he the number 1 pick no way, but with some time on the pine in the right organization and team style of play he could do well.

As for JR well I think any team looking for a QB should grab him. Look he might not have the running skills of VY but he has more passing skills in his pinky than VY. With some work and a group of talented recievers he could be deadly in the NFL. Just hope he doesn't end up with a Team that can't protect him should they decide to toss him out there from the opening coin toss ala David Carr.
