OK, I've stayed out this as long as I could.
In my most un-biased opinion possible, I don't think anyone can accurately say how either Brady Quinn or Jamarcus Russel will make out in the NFL. Not even the scouts can claim to be certain.

Brady Quinn could be a Ryan Leaf, Rick Mier, or Joey Harrington - all qb's that the "experts" thought would be great, but turned out to be busts. On the other hand, he could turn out to be something like Drew Brees, Tom Brady, or even Joe Montana (trying hard not to be biased). Those are all qb's that "experts" weren't so sure that they'd be successful in the NFL, and we know how they turned out.

In my opinion, both JR and BQ have the physical attributes to make it in the NFL. Size to withstand the beating they will get behind suspect lines, decent mobility, and arm strength (yes Quinn has plenty of arm for the NFL).

Some differences I can see between the two.
JR has a smoother throwing motion and better looking deep ball.
Quinn has more experience under tougher conditions (JR never played behind a line that gave up a fraction of the sacks, knock downs, and hurries that Quinn experienced.) Finally, JR never had to single handidly carry his team, regardless of the competition.

I dont think you watched too many SEC games this or past years. Tough conditions is what the SEC is about. Rarely is a sleeper game an option n this conference. And if you dont think JR hasnt had to carry this team you are crazy. He carried the team back to many 4th Q comebacks, 7 or 8. Granted some of the time he was the one to make a bone headed that dug LSU into the hole but he always put it on his shoulders and made up for those mistakes.:thumb: :geauxtige

I agree with your post, though I disagree with the last paragraph. Yes, Quinn might turn out to be a Tom Brady, and yes, he may turn out to be a bust. Well said. As for the last paragraph, I politely disagree. Russell had 8 come from behind wins, he's the master of carrying the team to a win, actually, I prefer to have Russell on my last 2 minutes of the game than any other QB that emerged in the last few years. Why? because he works that magic. What you have to understand is Russell is a genetic piece of art, a big 6'6" (can see the whole stretch of the field), 260 lb (can avoid most of the sacks that can happen with a lighter QB), and has an arm that is not only the strongest in the history of football, but one of the most accurate. If you dont believe his accuracy, have a look at the first TD in the TN game, not only was it a shot with the tightest spiral any QB can throw, but it was a 30 yd laser bomb that pinpointed Buster Davis from the 2 DBs, or perhaps the other TD to also Buster in the MS State game, where he also threw it in between 2 DBs, for a 5-10 yd TD. Russell may become a bust if he doesnt work to become a champion, but if he does work, he may become one of the best EVER.

looks like the scouts finally took my advice. I told them long ago JR over stagefright quinn. I even mentioned BQ's happy feet all year while they were too busy sucking him off to see his play objectively. Dude is pretty good but the hype was way overboard. he regressed from the year before by a good bit even under the tutelage of the gastric fatbot.

I also advised samardjiastan to give up football but he didnt listen either; until after the sugar bowl that is.

I like being able to read through a thread and ignoring almost all of the posts. As I can normally expect, tirk hits the analysis perfectly.

Quinn isn't terrible, but he's not as bad as some say, but he's about as far from a sure thing as there is in the draft. The Weeble is largely (yes, terrific pun) regarded as among the best QB coaches and offensive minds, yet Quinn never seemed to make plays. There have to be serious questions about his ability to be a Tom Brady-like QB (e.g. not a huge arm, not great mobility, but a great leader and player when it counts.) And no, I don't like Tom Brady (I detest the Patriots and the Brady Worship on TV), but I do respect what he's done.

In the NFL, you can't just skate by on your natural athleticism like in college football. BQ brings all the intangibles, including leadership and intelligence, that more naturally athletic QBs may lack.

Did he forget these at home for the Sugar Bowl? Maybe the airline lost them like they do luggage.:hihi:

Dude, JR was facing ND's defense while BQ had to face LSU's defense. My feeble grandma could score on ND's defense. Coach Willingham did a piss poor job of stockpiling talent to surrond BQ.

so what makes you think he'd do better in the NFL?

And the talent Fat@$$ is stockpiling is so great that they sat the bench behind Willingham's guys?
