1. Does anyone else here hate the so called "hurry up" offense throughout the course of a game? The obvious answer is...if it works, do it. However, I get sick of gimmicks like this. I have said before...it's like trying to run a trick play every down. I like old style better. It's strange. An offensive team can make the defense have to hurry in substitutions and places. But, the defensive team has no way to hurry (or slow down) the offensive team. ANYWAY, we have faired okay against the teams that run it regularly. I am just sick of the gimmickery.

Lastly, it seems to be used by teams that are admitting they can't play and challenge you with coaches, players and plays within schemes. So, they have to pull this out instead. I find it maddening regardless of our success against it.
  2. If you don't like it stop it and it will go away. As long as it works it will be around.
  3. Yea it seems like the plays are not quite good enough so they try to get the edge catching the D off guard
  4. Yes, I know. I guess my point is...I am sick of it. Still feels like dirty pool to me. Anyway, just wondered if anyone else was of this opinion.
  5. Better said. Exactly my point.
  6. It is annoying, and equally-annoying is the way the crowds (and apparently, the coaches) feel entitled to the hurry up, so they boo players who are down.

But it's like any gimmick. It doesn't really work when the teams that run gimmicky offenses play good teams. Sure, WVU gained a gazillion yards on us tonight--and lost by 26 points (which should've been 33 points, if not for the brain fart by RR to open the half.)

A few years ago, I watched Texas Tech almost throw away (no pun intended?) a game against OU where they had the lead because with their offense, they absolutely couldn't run out the clock to save their lives.

  7. Isn't it funny that many times losing teams do rack up big passing numbers and throwing the ball 50 times vs any success at all running the ball.
  8. LSU will randomly run the no huddle as well. It's a change of pace offense and will always be around in some form or another. A lot of colleges are using it right now because it's a good way to keep the defenses off balanced. However defenses have already started to make adjustments to it and made it less effective.
  9. I agree with this except that I am just "tired" of it instead of being "sick" of it. ;) And you may have also noticed that this has spread to the NFL as well. :(
  10. Agree; it feels a bit like watching someone getting sucker-punched in a bar by a weaker opponent, the latter knowing that he's got only one shot for the win!
