1. Still hard to imagine we've lost the biggest music influences of the 70s and 80s decades (Bowie and Prince, respectively).
  2. Don't forget Glenn Frey. The Eagles were an enormous influence on the 70's
  3. Well all due respect to Glen Frey, but the Eagles (and I do love their music) didn't influence music like David Bowie.
  4. Probably not however to discount the impact that the Eagles had on others is being disingenuous. Lots of very fine musicians in that group and Frey was a big part of it. He wasn't Prince or Bowie but his impact was still measurable.

  5. correct, the Eagles made some great music

Influence? Not in the same arena as Bowie. Would not be part of any music historian's narrative on that subject.
  6. Well, FWIW, I'd take the Eagles over either of them

and a fine choice I might add
  8. The Eagles influenced me more than the crossdresser. Hard to relate to that weird dude as a kid in the 80s
