Well, the guy acted like a jerk and people aren't afraid to call him out on it. He can come on here and say, "Don't listen to my show if you don't like it," but that is a cop-out and he knows it. Talk about not being able to take criticism. Is it so difficult to realize that radio listeners have a finite number of stations to listen to. A show comes on that talks about sports - yea! However, the host is annoying and makes an ass of himself on the air with a head coach of one of the two major sports franchises in the state. Yeah, I can stop listening, and quite frankly, I don't listen nearly as often. But when I'm driving in the car, and the topic is to my liking, I'm gonna listen. I just wish the host would take a hint and quit pissing me off. When he comes on the board, he opens himself up to professional critism (just like he dishes out.) Personally, he's probably the best damn guy you ever met. But professionally, he has adopted a style that is just nails-on-a-chalkboard annoying. Is it something innate, or has he simply chosen that style because it worked up north. He's a carpet bagger that still has not acclimated himself to South Louisiana, if you ask me. So... Hey Gerry, if you have more LSU topics, I'll be sure to listen more. If you ease up on the abbrasiveness, you might get a fan for life.
Who? The only person consistently being smacked around or even exposed is yourself on this thread. Your lame comebacks, if you want to call them that, aren't even remotely funny.
Man, some of you guys are real jerks. Makes me wonder why I come to this board sometimes. Gerry V is a good guy and makes very good and informative posts at Saintsreport. The guy is always giving some insider reports or checking on rumors and such. He could be a good poster here if you guys would lay off. Seems like a lot of you have some kind of New Orleans inferiority complex because anytime someone mentions the Saints or Tulane or anything you automatically go into super-defense-mode.
You need to understand that some people around here think this is their "fraternity." Some have spent tons of time on this board and have worked themselves all the way up to "assistant secretary treasurer." Now someone appears who is different from them and their panties get in a wad. Time spent on this board does not equal the importance of your opinion.
I think that anyone can come on here and make good points. Also, I dont think that the people here have an inferiority complex or anything like that. But, if you push their buttons they will get you. I know this first hand. Plus, this guy is making some jerkish posts. It should take him a while to get respect from the people. I been here for a while and I still havent.
Scrappy, I have never heard your show nor do I know you from Adam. I hate to say it but if you are not an LSU fan, I think you will have a difficult time in that market. Yes being good counts. You can't just be a LSU homer and suck. Richard Condon kinda pulled it off without being a fan but he was always changing stations for one reason or another. Songy is a homer. Jimmy Ott pulls for LSU. They get ticked when LSU loses and that makes them more like the common fan. We are a passionate group and LSU has to matter if you are in that market.Fight it all you want. I am just giving you my opinion.
Thats fine, but I just dont think its fair to alienate someone who is not a fan of the same place you are. Thats just rediculous. So just b/c someone happened to be brought up in Bama and they are a Tide fan, they are at the low end of the Totum Pole? Even if that persona is complimentary of LSU and is respectable about it? I'm not a fan. But, I go to the school and i hope they do well cuz everyone is happy. If they win great, if they lose well im not heartbroken.
That Bama fan would be at the lowest end of the totem pole. In a business sense, I think it is important to look at prior models of success. Yes you have to be unique and there is always going to be that rare breed that does things completely unlike everyone else. But for the most part I think there is much to be learned from successful people before you in regards to modeling their situation. The most important thing to find out is what does the customer want. If you want to maximize your potential in any business that is a crucial question to answer. Its no big deal right now if you are just in college and passing time. But when it is time to select a real job you might want to consider those things. My .02
I think i balance....I know im not a fan but i know a lot of people who love the show...I lvoe the people and if what i say makes people call then thats what businesses wanna hear.
