I think Miles and this team wants to prove they are one of the best teams in the country. They know they were a play or two away from a rematch against Florida in the SECCG. They also know they have the stage all to themselves that night, as it's the only game. And, it's Notre Dame.

While the fans don't seem all that excited, I expect this team to be fired up and ready to play.

You were talking about how even the ratio of quarterbacks is north to south, I simply refuted that with an obvious distiction. I never said anything about Notre Dame's history. I loved Rudy.

All the "blow out" talk and smack has me worried too. It all might just serve to help ND get better prepared and give them another reason to play their best and win. I know a lot of it is in fun, but it could have an undesired effect. I certainly hope it does not have an effect on LSU's attitude. The Tigers cannot go into the Sugar Bowl with rose-colored glasses. As fans we canafford to treat ND lightly; LSU cannot.

That's what Les and the coaching staff get paid the big bucks to prevent. That and I think we have upper classmen leadership on the squad to ensure we are focused on the task at hand, while ignoring the press clippings.

OK Guys, I'm back. Had a great weekend that included killing a few ducks on Saturday, then followed with an awesome goose hunt on Sunday.

    Couple of things...
Charlie Weis talked about LSU at his press conference. I've seen a little of it mentioned in another thread here, and read a little more about it on the ND website. Nothing jumped out at me, just typical coach talk about the opposing team. However, you can tell from his talk that he is deffinately one who does his homework and compiles every possible stat on his opponent.

There was also an update on players on the ND website. It appears that our tight end Carlson is back and presumably will be at 100% for the bowl game. This is pretty big for ND since he is one of Quinn's big targets. His backup played well, but this guy was having an All-American type season until he got banged up. Big guy, fast for TE, and great hands.
Another player that was banged up was one of the safeties, but he still isn't practicing.

Finally, if I can touch on a subject mentioned on another thread. When I first tried to subscribe to the ND website, I tried to use the name CoonAssIrish. I tried to make one post, and got shut down and told to change my ID. Thought some of you would get a kick out of that.

Mostly around Gueydon, although I get to do a good bit of hunting along most of the coast w/ vendors, customers, etc.

I haven't heard any update on Highsmith (sp?). I know that LSU is pretty tight lipped about player status, but I didn't remember if he played in the Arkansas game, or if that was the game that he got hurt.
In my opinioin, he is one of the strongest parts of LSU's defense. Teams can use blocking schemes and run opposite of Dorsey, and they can throw away from Landry (although I haven't been as impressed w/ him this year as in the past), but Highsmith always seemed to be in the middle of things. I think controlling him will be a key for ND.
