Let's hear it for
Les Miles.
The former
Oklahoma State coach may be many things, sports fans — straight talker, tall hat aficionado, overtime loser, Bedlam sparring partner — but he is not cursed by being boring.
So when LSU's head man moseyed into a press conference, Mr. Monday knew something fun was coming.
Lowering the boom on
ESPN was a nice touch. While Mr. Monday may tank any chance of future employment in Bristol, let's just say that poking the Worldwide Leader is something to be encouraged, not discouraged.
Not to ride down the Tangent Expressway, but Mr. Monday doesn't want
ESPN to sneak off unpunished with an incorrect scoop (which could still be right, more on that in sec.) Mr. Monday been chewed out for getting the name of Checotah's backup left tackle wrong, but
ESPN gets to blow a big coaching hire and
Kirk Herbstreit can laugh it off with
Brent Musberger? Yikes, Herbie would get into more trouble if he had tanked my order in the
Arby's drive-through.
ESPN should go ahead and come up with a weekly correction show. They can show it late at night on ESPNU instead of
Sun Belt Conference volleyball.
