When I hear miles talk, I can tell he has a passion for football. He seems like a players coach which could be a blessing or a curse. Who knows? But, I love a coach with fire. A coach that looks like he'll go through the wall for his team. One that gets as jacked up about a game as the players do. People like Dick Vermeil and Les Miles are my kind of coaches. Hell you have guys like BB in NE who never seems happy. He's winning all these rings and he's so square and dull. Guys like Miles are just cool though. I like emotional guys that wear it on their sleeve
Wrong again, CRAWFISH - JaMarcus Russell is from Mobile, Alabama - that makes him a Mobile QB last I checked...
6'5 and around 250? Sounds like a stud to me. Im sure at least SOME of that is muscle guys. :hihi: JR is going to be the man, so stop worrying. All is fine in tigerland. On miles: Can you imagine how FIRED UP he is going to be coming through the tunnel on opening night?!?! I could definetly see him jumping up and down on the kickoff screaming his lungs out... man he is going to be so hoarse after north texas...
The problem I have with JR's weight is it appears to mimic his dedication to the team last year. In two years on the team he failed to study the playbook or film enough to know receiver progression or defensives schemes, plus he decides to break curfew before a New Years Day bowl game forcing Saban to play Flynn. You would think if he really was dedicated to the team he would have come in to camp in the best shape of his life and knowing the playbook backwards and forwards. He is not the nimblest of QBs in the first place, a little less weight would make him more illusive if the need arouse. He may surprise me but I do not think he demonstrated in the off-season that he has gotten anymore mature. I hope he proves me wrong, but I think he is use to excelling based on his tremendous talent and has never had to really work for it. I want to cheer for players that have talent and work hard to get better. That is just me. I hope JR is one of those players but I have not seen it yet. I guess this is a dead horse till the players report. Just my $.02 PS Congratulations Gumborue on the baby
I think you are absolutely right. IMO, Jamarcus's lack of dedication is why he hasn't been named the starter for the 2005 season. We all know that JaMarcus has huge potential & tons of talent, but that doesn't mean anything if he doesn't lead the team, know the playbook & is able to read defenses. I think Miles is now facing what Saban faced last year. A truley gifted athlete in Jamarcus Russell but questionable work ethic, or a guy with a good head & willing to work hard but not as talented (Flynn this year & last year/Randall last year). I think both coaches kind of try to push Jamarcus & let him be the QB he is capable of, but he hasn't taken the reigns. If talent is the only reason JaMarcus is the starter next year, look for Perrilloux out on the field alot more than you might have been expecting. Talent may have been enough for JaMarcus to seperate himself from Flynn, but Ryan's got more talent than both & has shown (although not on the college football field) his willingness to work hard & dedicate himself to attain his goals. Personally, I'm hoping for Jamarcus to take command of the team & not allow there to be in QB controversy. I'd like to see Flynn & Perrilloux as consistent, very capable backups pushing Jamarcus for time & each able to take a game upon their own shoulders.
