1. It is a truly sad day for the Tiger Nation.

Mike The Tiger V will forever be missed. It is strange how much he becomes a part of every Tiger fans life. It has been since Aug. of 2003 since i have seen him in person and i went and spent 3 and a half hours at his cage just in awe of being in his presence.

That is how it is every time i get to Baton Rouge. He is one of God's creatures and i thank him for his years of faithfull service and loyalty.

May you rest in peace near your home where you belong for eternity. Watching over your tigers and providing inspiration to those who follow you.

I Have lost a member of my family and will cherish the time spent with this amazing creature.

With an ending comes beginning. Mike V1 will come to us and we will enjoy getting to know him . Seeing him preside over LSU and its fans.

Thanks again Mike V and well done good and faithfull servant.

  2. My condolences. I remember engaging in a discussion about this topic not long ago. I know he was held in high esteem by all; he transcended the term mascot, he personified the spirit that is LSU.

  3. i hope they never diminish the role of the live tiger. i hope they really do it up right for his replacement, with a big coronation and lots of press and fame for the guy.

  8. RIP Mike. I was able to see him during my last visit to a Tiger game in 2004 and as others have written I spent a good half hour watching him pace around his cage.

  9. I was a student at LSU when Mike V arrived. I still remember my excitement when he was finally on campus quite well. I loved watching him strut around his pen, and hearing him growl and roar. I wish he had had a chance to enjoy retirement. He'll be missed. :bncry:

I am so very sad to learn of his passing, but at the same time hope that Mike VI is as fine a tiger as Mike V was, and I will be glad when the tradition continues and he arrives on campus. Maybe this is what the Brits feel like? Mike is dead, long live Mike...
