Davis, who despite being scheduled to make $380,000 this season in the last year of his three-year contract has attended all the Texans' OTAs.--NFL.COM This is how you play the game. He is putting the team first, and we all know the past two SB winners were "teams". He is the anti-TO
Well, yeah, but he also knows that the team has never been 100% comfortable with him as the feature back, so holding out wouldn't do much for him just as holding out didn't do much for Duce Staley in Philly a couple of years back. Drafting a solid RB like Vernand Morency didn't help Double D's leverage, either. It's in his best interest to work hard, have a solid year, and either get paid by the Texans or get paid by someone else next season.
DD will end up a kevin faulk.. a good back who is just too small to be featured, so he will hang around for a long time while the texans try to replcae him over and over...
I disagree. I think Morency's pick will actually help D.D., as being an every down back frankly is too much in today's NFL (What's the average career of an NFL RB somewhere around three years?). In fact, I say in spite of Morency's carries Davis will have his best year in the NFL so far because he is so versatile and obviously better than his draft (4th round) indicates. Plus the Texans offensive line should be accustomed to their zone blocking scheme implemented last year and Carr-Johnson could be a great passing attack this year.
you missed the point.. DD will do well, but in the minds of the Texans management, he still isnt big enough, so if morency doesnt replace him, they will go after someone else... how many tries did it take before N.E. finally got someone to replace Faulk?
the dude has had thousand yard seasons... If the Texans don't believe in that, then I hope he finds a nice new home someday...
I don't think you followed the Texans or the NFL much last season.... After Dominique's first couple of games last season when he had fumblitis, the dude was a beast....He has more weight on him than faulk, and is a lot better at breaking tackles (not making people miss) There's a reason why he's drafted top 5 in a lot of fantasy leagues...
yet my point is indisputable.. They took a RB on the first day.. they dont think DD is the long term solution...
The Dallas Cowboys took a RB on the 1st day... Yet, they have no doubt Julius Jones is their man... You need 2 good RBs or you end up like the Saints if your RB needs a blow.
You're point is completely disputable - he has been the feature back for two seasons, so if he is too small to be a feature back, you need to go back and change some history.
