Hey douchebag...This thread was not started by me, I just started to talk about it when it was brought up. I like softball, mainly because I grew up with it. You dont have to believe me about my grandfather either....But for proof, I included this link... http://www.ahsaa.com/officials/district_directors_bios/softball/bios/west_central_director.asp I'm not one to bring up something such as softball on this forum but since someone else did, I got into the convo... Oh and hey mutt...I'd be willing to bet any amount of money you couldn't even get a peice of a Chrissy Owens fastball...:thumb:
You must be thinking about slow pitch softball. It is a proven fact that a softball can be thrown at a faster speed than a professional bb pitcher can throw. And due to the shorter distance from the mound to the plate, the batter has much less time to adjust. I used to catch for some very good fast pitch teams. Our pitchers could bring the heat with a fastball, change up, and make the ball "shoot up-left or right" or "shoot down-left or right." A few had a "drop" that looked like it fell of a table. Used to be a team touring USA with a pitcher named Eddie Foreigner(?) He struck out local heroes from second base........BLIND FOLDED.................He was so good that his team only used him to pitch, a catcher, an infielder, and one outfielder.....Usually they won.....
I use to play fast pitch at city park in NO. It was fun b/c we would play the cops and I played the hot box so every time one of the fuzz made it to third I would just talk mad $h!+. It was nice to punk a cop. But even know it was fast pitch we would still smoke and drink. If I played the out field I would catch the ball w/my hands. Softball is ez fast pitch or not. I use to hit for the cycle on a daily basis. Softball is for fat people. Back then I use to weigh 155 and I would run circles around those fat boys. I just can't get excited to watch it. Baseball is a bor to unless you go to the game or its the world series.
Col, you're talking about Eddie Feigner, the King (and his Court), without a doubt the most incredible softball pitcher ever. I saw him twice and it was really fun. He had 4 man teams and they were all very good players. Of course, they didn't have to do a lot, well, except for the catcher. Always made the home boys look pretty silly . He threw it over 100 mph on occasion. In an exhibition in 1967, he struck out Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Brooks Robinson, Maury Wills, Harmon Killebrew, Roberto Clemente, and Pete Rose in succession. His website says he had a stroke in 2000, now just works as the "carnival barker", and is giving it up this year. Website is thekingandhiscourt.com
I am a Tiger fan:lol:     Golfer guy doesn't think so though:lol:
I just don't think that I could sit through a whole softball game, fast or slow, without a whiskey drink in my hand and a full flask in my pocket!!
The Bama squad has only played 5 games so far this season. However, any fan of softball or baseball would look at a .064 ERA and say there is some talent there. One venue I haven't visited is the LSU softball complex. Anyone got a link to it?
A few years ago the halftime show at a basketball game was some All-SEC or All-Smerican softball pitcher throwing against Wally Pontiff. Wally went down on three swings. His sister later told me that he said the whole thing was fixed.
