Anyone have any information on the players that are not with the team following the coaching change? I have seen it posted on other forums that Mainieri ran off some "undesirables".

I can't imagine how Derik Olvey must have felt, transferring away from a coach and having the coach come to the new school...

How about the players that he brought it? Mainly, a pitcher by the name of Charlie Furbush. This guy is going to be something else.

Seriously though, I too am curious as to who he "ran off."

Also, where did Derik end up at? And what about Chris Jackson's eligibility. I know that he's a junior in baseball but will he still be able to play this spring being that it's likely that he goes pro in football?

I don't think it's likely that he goes pro in football. What is your source on that?

Pure speculation, but I think he's solid enough to be able to, at least, walk-on and tryout for some teams. I think he has a more promising career in baseball, but you never know.

I don't think he's capable of going pro in either sport, to be honest with you. He has all of the leg strength in the world but hasn't shown a consistently accurate leg on long field goals or a consistently high net punting average.

Maybe TJ surgery will give him the arm strength necessary to become a solid defensive SS in MLB. :hihi:

He is still a solid Tiger and I wish him the best future.

Yes, definitely transferred. That is per an interview with Mainieri on Buddy Songy's show. I am pretty sure he said it was to ASU.

He gave a lot of details and explained how he made a point to speak with Olvey right away so that he could be play sooner rather than later elsewhere if he wanted to transfer again. Said he spoke to him before the fall semester so Olvey would be prepared to transfer right away if he intended to go and play elsewhere.
