I do find this a bit ironic. I've seen it mentioned by more than one person here...dropped passes by LSU. Yet, the very same thing can be said about the last few games with UM and UT. With every college coach you find different coaching styles. While I will not disagree with the offense "not clicking" lately with Bama it has to be weighed against the approach the staff has taken in regard to those two games. As example. With Ole' Miss and Spurlock...it was a given he probably couldn't beat us throwing the ball so we set back in zone coverage a lot and didn't rush more than 5 at one given time. In fact, we played quite a bit of 3-3-5 and only rushed one LB. On UT. I honestly don't think you can take anything away from that game and compare it to another....your game vs UT included. In the midst of our sanctions we took that team to 5 OT's and if it wasn't for a 4th and 19 completion we would have won that game severely depleted. The next year, starting the 3rd string in the backfield we barely lost that game. With games that have such a history (magnitude) behind them...you simply can't take specifics away from that game to compare to others. NOW, as to our game (if we get passed MSU). {{Let me add this about MSU. I know of two people on that staff and two players who have relayed info about Croom talking about the Bama game since the spring...literally being mentioned in just about every practice...Croom wants this game badly and it has been his focus for quite some time now}} At the beginning of this season I thought Bama would be 7-4...I figured we'd pick off one of the following 4 teams; UF, UT, AU, and LSU. I also figured we'd lose to either USC or Ark. So, as far as my expectations are concerned we've far exceeded them. We still haven't made it "back" (as SI tried to say) from the reductions. I look at the next 3 games and can see how we can get through all of them...but don't expect it. I figure I fall into the atypical SEC fan...more of a realist. I know we can pull out a win weekend after next...but know just as well you can also.
Alabama barely scored that many on freakin' Utah State. You might hold LSU to 18 (that is just a strange score), but no way you score 28 on the LSU defense.
This falls into one of those "stat categories." We played every player we dressed that game. Granted, the offense fell flat after two quick scores. But, that is something that falls into the "youth" category. You know very well, that when you have a young team they fall into that mind-set. As to saying 28 on LSU...I'm still going to say the same thing I've said in several threads on this forum already. First to 17 takes the win....over/under..under 35.
