After graduating from Eureka College in 1932 (with a degree in Economics and Sociology), Reagan drove himself to Iowa, where he held jobs as an announcer at several stations. He moved to WHO radio in Des Moines as an announcer for Chicago Cubs baseball games. His specialty was creating play-by-play accounts of games using as his source only basic descriptions that the station received by wire as the games were in progress. While on the road with the Cubs during spring training in California, Reagan took a screen test for Warner Bros. Studios, and this led to a seven year contract with Warner Bros.

True story,.. Charles Darwin collected a tortoise in the Galapagos Islands, he gave it to the Australia Zoo. In 2005, the tortoise celebrated her much-publicized 175th birthday, for the occasion she was given flowers to eat. She ate some then spit them out, saying, "yuck, that's awful",.. the astonished zoo keeper said, "you can talk?.. you've been here over 150 years and never said a word",.. the tortoise replied, "well, up to now, the food's been good"
