  1. I'm not talking about giving out stimulus checks to the middle class. I'm talking about things like responsible stewardship of the economy, less loopholes for companies to exploit, and less overseas spending. Big government is a problem and it does need to be reduced, but the tightening of belts that working class families are enduring is largely the result of bad decisions by our government.

  4. there are many countries that are considered socialist that are doing ok--denmark, norway, sweden.

    but many equate socialism with communism and its harder to argue there are any successes there---maybe china is on its way

    you may need to define "succeeded"

    Denmark is a Parliamentary Democracy with a highly free market, capitalist economy, ranking 11th of 162 countries in the Index of Economic Freedom 2008.

    Norway is a Constitutional Monarchy, one of the per capita richest countries on earth, and has a thriving capitalist economy.

    Sweden is a Parliamentary Democracy and an export-oriented free market economy.​

    It is important not to confuse national medical coverage with socialist economic and political systems and their collective ownership of property and business.
  6. I'm enjoying this thread but this got me to thinking. I've always been told suicide is illegal but these days it seems as if it's not. I'll take any chance to stick one to Red:hihi:

  7. Suicide illegality has always been mildly absurd and many states have eliminated it, but some have not. Suicide remains illegal in Louisiana if assisted. La. Rev. Stat. Ann. §14:32.12

    so I'll just ask.

  10. i dont think they are either. but i wrote "considered". if some TF posters think Obama is socialist then they also think denmark, norway and sweden (among many other capitalist countries) are socialist because of "income redistribution"
