Cannon won a heisman for what he did ON the field. He deserves a statue before Les Miles. Doesn't matter what he did OFF the field.
Ummmm... YES. It DOES. In Cannon's case, maybe he'll have something as time goes on and distance is placed between his mistakes and our opinions. His positives are well documented and displayed (Heisman, etc.). Now, I love Cannon! And I'd love to see him rewarded. But you're wrong in claiming that it doesn't matter what people do off the field vs on when you're talking about erecting statues of them.
Yes you're right, but he did his time. He paid his dues, his debt to society. He seems to represent the university well these days. This is more on the lines of what I meant.
