1. No TT because "fans would balk"...so they got Miles?

Not sure that Tuberville would have come but the reason was the fans...well, why do they think fans would prefer a second-tier coach?

By the way, all the people who say that we should support the team no matter who is the coach are correct in the sense that we certainly want them to have the best. But unless you're a parent, I don't think there is any obligation on the part of even the strongest fan to watch a team fall from #1 to not in the top 20. Sure hope it doesn't happen.

LSU chooses Miles for head coach

ORLANDO, Fla. -- LSU has settled on Oklahoma State coach Les Miles as the top choice for its head coaching vacancy and is preparing to offer him a contract, two sources said.

One source said that LSU would wait until Monday to make an announcement regarding Miles, 51, after he has an opportunity to meet with new LSU chancellor Sean O'Keefe. Another source said something could be finalized with Miles by Wednesday.

  3. This has got to be one of the stupidest posts I've seen. I'm an Ok State fan.

The reason the system is boring this year is b/c we have a freshman QB who struggles to throw the ball and an amazing running back. Obviously, you didn't see us the past few years. Last year, we threw the ball and were pass happy... This year we just ran it. It is all about the people you have. We aren't blessed with the talent you guys have.

I don't know if Miles would be a good hire or not for you all. I just know he took an OSU program from the dumps to making school history while beating Bob Stoops more than anyone else in the nation stealing a National Championship shot from them once and almost ruining their hopes in 2000 with none of his players. Not to mention stealing recruits away from the top schools in the Big 12.

Good luck in the future. I only hope you all don't get him b/c I don't wanta see everyone calling for him to get fired right after he gets hired. He is a good family man that I think would do fine if just given a shot. Good luck in the future. I hope Les proves you all wrong!:thumb:

  4. So do you consider last in the Big 12 in passing offense a good offense???????????????
  5. This just shows the absolute lack of understanding of, first, the baseball program, and second, what it takes to select a coach. Smoke was the perfect selection, and was the choice of probably 90% of former baseball players within the family. He has taken a baseball program with unreachable expectations and a more difficult and competitive conference, and won. Nice try, but wrong.

Give the new hire a chance, when it finally occurs. I want someone hungry and willing to take on the traditions of LSU. Miles, if he is the guy, took an OSU program that was dormant since Sanders and Thomas left, and brought back to the Top 25, all the while competing directly against OU.

  6. Yeah, and I can remember when everybody around here was sky-high on a certain Southern Miss HC because he had beaten Florida State and Alabama
while he was in Hattiesburg. No need to rehash how THAT hire turned out. :dis: :dis: :dis:

  7. This reminds me when all the football players wanted Mike Archer. That got us really far.
  8. Come on med, did you actually read the guy's post??? He mentioned something about a freshman qb and awesome runningback -- Kinda explains the passing offense, huh?

  9. But do all medicore teams have excuses?????
  10. Well, I don't know anything about him. I am not jumping up and down out here. I feel like I'll just have to wait and see. You know, only time will tell. I am feeling like the hire is somewhat vanilla, but that is because I don't know the guy. He'll be graded very quickly. Let's see how many recruits he saves and then how many he can bring in. I suspect the program has to take at least a slight dip until Miles gets himself up and running with inroads throughout the recruiting region.
