I was watchful his first year but after the bowl game that year I was behind the guy. This year rolled around and the Sabanites were still out in force acting like Saban never screwed up and could walk on water. I've tried my hardest to convince certain friends that Miles is indeed a hell of a coach, with more class than Nick could ever dream of having, and was even a better recruiter. I was doing all the way up to freaking kickoff last night.

Of course with Saban going to Bama, his disciples that wouldn't ever get off Miles' back were a lot harder to find. Still I got into discussions with members of klan Saban and no amount of raw numbers and on field performance facts were good enough.

Was 41-14 good enough for you? What more do you need?! Were the half-time adjustments that killed the Weis "GENIUS" good enough? Can we finally be a united fan base behind our coach? I know he doesn't have the "it" thing in front of the camera and I'm pretty sure that's why we have those that think he's an "idiot" but that's not what he's shown as a coach! We've run plays in the last two years, that were downright brilliant in both execution and timing that come down from the head coach, not Jimbo (fake punts & field goals for example) and I doubt Saban would have been that ballsy or creative.

I like him a lot, and I also appreciate the "human" side of him that may say the wrong thing or be a little bit goofy.....like most of us are. Give me someone like that over a robot that only says the right thing and shows no emotion.

He may not be perfect, and we may occasionally take a time out at the wrong time, but it is hard to argue with the success we have had the last two years. I have a long memory and I can remember when we would have given anything for a season like we have had the last two years. I also feel like we can trust him, unlike Nick the Snake.

I'm in! But I've been seated for a while here now. I for one am happy having a coach that doesn't possess the "it" factor. He's a football coach, not a celebrity. If that makes him look bad, then maybe we won't have all the "where's he gonna coach next" crap! Anybody got a problem with that?:thumb:

agreed 100%. I was actually thinking about the difference b/w Miles and Saban in front of the camera last night and the more I thought about it the more I liked Miles' personality over Saban's. The "let 'er rip" style, the "we're gonna go out and play our asses off!". Saban sits there, speaks in monotone, emotionless, lies, has zero personality, and fills the airwaves with his ego or every tried and true "coachspeak" cliche under the sun.

By the way, I'm not really accusing anyone specifically on this board. I actually was sparked by reading something from another board where one person claimed Weis was outcoached and then another person replied with something along the lines of "Les Miles has never outcoached anyone" or some such degrading BS. Decided to vent here, but I was indeed involved in some animated arguments over Miles last night, it got to the point where I almost got out of my ride on the way to the dome I was that pissed over the crap some "fans" were saying about him.

TexasTigers Are You With Me ?

The "we want Saban" ship has LONG Sailed....

I was one of those Anti-Miles crowd until the Arky game. And I realize 11 win seasons, and a coach who truly wants to be here and doest use "Coach Speak" and truly loves being the LSU coach and not just a "College Coach" makes me very happy to Have Les on our sidelines. He wont win every game, coaches rarely do in the SEC. But he will be a great coach for us.
he has earned everyones respect (Even though he still hasnt figured out that you dont get your challange back ;-) )

I think you are right. I had a buddy in SC a few years ago tell me that a football coach ought to look like "an auto mechanic", not an actor. Although Les does kinda look like Kurt Russell with a big ol hat.

    Contained Chaos Don't we all?

Yep. He looks JUST like Kurt Russell. But he doesn't carry himself like an actor, the way Petey does.

I'm a fan of Les Miles', and I have been for quite a long time. I applaud how he held our team together during the hurricanes last year. Would Nick have done the same? He was rather insensitive during 9/11, saying he didn't want his players talking about it. Katrina would probably have been just another distraction, with Saban not realizing the enormity of what had happened was larger than the football team.

I also enjoy not having to be jerked around with all of the "Where's Nick Going?" questions at the end of each season. And make no mistake, he must've been looking to upgrade each and every time his name was mentioned, even long before he took the Miami job.

Plus, I feel like he was so focused on his next move during the '04 season that we had a really boring, disappointing year--with close game after close game (Vandy, Troy, OSU). His "heart" wasn't in LSU in '04.

We have a coach with character and heart, and I hope he stays for many years.

I like Les Miles a lot and we all know and understand that the only job he will ever leave us for is Michigan. He is a real person and I am glad that he is our coach. He teaches character and conviction, and wins a crap load of football games. I like that. 22-4 with no arrests.
