Please leave now if you have not done so and are in a high risk area, esepcailly those in New Orleans and south of there, this storm surge may put everything way under water. You can't do anything to protect your property. And you can always rebuild. This is the first time my family members have ever evacuated and I am glad they have.
I agree .... I'm old enough to remember Camille and the devastation we lived through. No need to roll the dice with something this big. Y'all travel safely and patiently. Godspeed
I agree. I just called my family today, they are in the river parishes, and they are all staying for this one. they have never left in the past, so they will not leave not. I think it is a foolish decision, but I respect it and will pray for their safety. common sense says to leave. homes can be rebuilt, lives can't. any of you who stay are in my prayers. Geaux to hell Katrina.
we are watching and waiting. we should get some bad weather here in new iberia if it follows the path they are predicting but if it keeps moving west we gonna have to get the hell otta here. everything is packed and ready just incase.
Best I can figure, we're looking at 60 mile an hour winds in this area, provided it travels as forecast. Anything that can't be put inside is tied down so I'm ready as can be. I-10 WB traffic between Breaux Bridge and Lafayette is barely moving. Edit: I should add that my niece left my house for Houston this morning and she said that around Jennings she was going 85, so apparently is clears up the further west you get from Lafayette.
Agree, they are comparing this storm to hurricane Camille....No hurricane party would be able to keep me anywhere near Louisiana or Mississippi for this one. PLEASE LEAVE!!!!! Then you can come back and root for LSU Saturday!
Do you remember Hurricane Betsy? Look at her path, looks familar: http://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/at196503.asp Links to reminders of Betsy which hit NO with 105MPH winds and an 8-10 foot surge. http://www.st-bernard.la.us/emprep/betsy/betsy.htm http://www.geocities.com/tokyo/flats/4396/betsy.html
