1. I know that the fact that he's coached some high-profile players has a lot to do with his publicity compared to your average high school coach, but I do really appreciate the way he instructs his players through the whole recruiting process.

He's definately a "stand up" coach.

Whether Francois actually ends up signing with us or not, the fact that coach Dautreive asks his players to not wait until signing day because he wants "the schools not picked to have time to go after someone else" is commendable.

In today's age of recruiting, it's good to know that there are high school coaches out there that do their best to keep it from becoming more of a circus than what it already is.

  2. I agree. I don't like the Perilloux-type drama. You've had your visits, you've had your time. Don't make it a circus. State your intentions. Stick to them. Show some honor, tell the truth.

I don't blame the kids. Stick the cameras and national exposure in my face at 17 and I can't say what I would have done. Never was faced with that (although I was making low grade black and white soft porn at the time).:hihi:
  3. I know him as 'my old PE coach'.
  4. God, I hated those guys. :hihi:
  5. If you had chicks in those, mebbe you could've afforded color film. :hihi:

  6. Dautreive is a total class-act.

Me and Perrilloux's senior year, we played ESJ in Galliano and upset them 39-36.

It was our last game of the season, and we were 1-8 coming into the game. We were literally 30+ point underdogs.

Well, after we won, Dautreive went and talked to every, single one of our seniors for 5-10 mins to congratulate them. They stayed in Galliano an hour or so before going home.
  7. to add to the original post:

he always has this policy with his guys. Perrilloux phoned in his commitment to Les Miles a day or two before signing day, but waiting till signing day to make a splash.

  8. I was at that game. That was one hell of a great game. It was back and forth. Perrilloux was the team that year, ESJ didnt have anyone to help out, the previous year he had Derron Thomas to run the ball to help out. That year they had no running game except Perrilloux. When I go to SL games I sit on the visitors side, better seats. Perrillouxs mom and dad sat behind us. Some really nice people.

Guidry was the star of that game though, breaking the SL single game rushing record. That was one hell of a performance! ESJ had absolutely no D that year. They were atrocious on that side of the ball.
