Also, I guess discrimination against minorities and women, have never exsisted in this country. Everyone should just shut up and continue to take it in the butt from bigots and sexist right. Nope, this country never needed a civil rights movement or a feminist movement, that was just hosh posh. This country has never been racist or sexist towards anyone. I make a decent living and most of people in my family do, oh I also know alot of my minority friends who make a decent living. Just maybe they went to college or opened their own business, oh maybe thats it:dis:.

I think it's hilarious that people are again complaining about desegregation. What's funny is that many are African-American and don't want their kids being driven across town. My suggestion to them...call you local Democrat and demand "change". :yelwink2:

Discrimination has and will always exist. Do you think the pyramids, Great Wall, or Parthenon built themselves? We try to give aid to starving people and their governments won't allow it. Genecide occurs around the world...black on black, white on white, etc. but for some reason we're to believe that our people have it so bad. Sorry, I'm not buying that!

I grew up poor, paid my own way through school, worked from the time I was 14, and have earned everything I own. Did I receive special treatment? Well, I've never received points for being a minority or female like many of my coworkers...so I guess not.

Do I want to see a level playing field?...definitely! Do I believe many groups (including women & minorities) have had many obstacles to overcome?...definitely! Do I believe that you've been discriminated against simply because you're female or a minority?...definitely NOT!

First of all you dont know what I have been through in the form of discrimination, so please dont offend me with that point as if you do know. Thats ignorant. Like I care if you believe it or not, the fact is it has happened to me, did it make me angry, yes, did I sulk about it and go rob someone, hell no. Learned from the experience and moved on. You should do the same.

I've never asked you to feel guilty, you brought that point up. All I did was acknowledge the problems past, present, and future, you can take it and twist it as much as you want. All of those programs you named, Affirmative Action and Desegreation were direct results from racism and discrimination. You thought they just pulled it out of their asses. They didnt sir, slavery happened, racism happens, everytime someone brings up those points, you want to run to excuses like the shyt didnt happen. You can deny the problems all you want to, but the fact is you dont know peoples hearts and the problems still exist to this day.
Another point is that I havent benefited from affirmative action my friend. Every comnpany that I have worked for has been a private company in Florida, which is an at will state. So they can hire and fire who they want. Look it up.

You dont know if you have benefited from racism or discrimination, neither do I. If you go for a job, which you are qualified for and they call you and say you didnt get the job. The reasons could be, that they had to reach a quota or they could have thought somone else was more personally qualified. Just like myself, it could be someone else was more qualified or they didnt want to hire a black man. Hell I dont know and dont care, I moved on a found other jobs.
Also, I never said racism or sexism was exclusive to one group of people, you make that idiotic statement, not me.

How do you know what most african americans want? The african americans I know want their kids to have a good education, no matter what part of town it is. Just like whites, hispanics and everything in between. You make these very generalized statements and you dont know what the hell you are talking about.

What does OJ have to do with this, I believe he did it. Their were white people and blacks on the jury, it wasnt hung or a mistrial, he got off, thats the result of his lawyer and a bad prosecution.

Maybe we should roll everything back to the 20s, 30s, and 40s and you would be just fine. I think you are living in the wrong century.

Speaking of demographics...of all the groups out there, which is the easiest to predict? white? male? female? Hispanic? rich? poor? educated?

Try black...not African-American...but simply black. Why? What have the Democrats done that has made their quality of life any better than it was 10...20...30...40 years ago? Still last in education...last in income...first in incarceration...first in drop out rate...and the list goes on.

Even with a Democrat if office, Democrat-controlled Congress, or both...have things gotten better? Obviously not according to Mrs. Obama. I would love to see things get better but I'm not optimistic in today's society.

I don't know about the every man for himself theory. I give 10+% at church, to numerous charities, belong to several community organizations, and volunteer much of my time. That hardly fits the stereotype you'd like to believe.

I tend to believe the "what's in it for me" and the "me, me , me" comes more from the left side of the aisle all though I think there's plenty on both sides guilty of that one.

My answer to that is I think it will continue to decrease and generations come along, but it will never end. As far as racism and discriminations.

Benchmarks, quotas, a number, none of that will change the hearts of people, it will help certain groups and inflame the others.
