I agree, but I don't think Keiland has been obviously superior in this department. I'd like to see how the coaches have graded out Keiland because I don't think it would be as high as many fans think.

It wasn't just the one time. He was having fumbling problems in practice. Coaches feel (and athletes seem to agree) that young players need to have their confidence built up before being put in tough situations. Some athletes are prepared, some aren't - and it isn't based on physical ability. I don't blame the coaching staff at all for not using the freshmen in the Auburn game.

I'm undecided on it. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it isn't. I don't have a problem with rewarding guys who have worked hard for 4 years and deserve to be out there, but not at the expense of a win obviously.

well there was nothing to judge coming into the season except alley and if he would get in shape. this never happened so he should have not been rewarded as its been evident hes not half the back keiland currently is. he has had moments but not enough to warrant more than a couple of carries. everyone knew justin wasnt going to suddenly turn into his freshman self as he's bulked up and cant go back.

hester was the surprise. i gave him hell but hes deserved all the playing time he's received by producing on the field. kid comes to play and doesnt shy away from contact.

scott is the 2nd best gamebreaker in the backfield which has been obvious since he and kw have halved the season between each other. id prefer to use them in conjunction much the same way the hogs split time between their 2 freaks--just a lot less carrries of course.

the reason i didnt chime in is because i knew thats what lester was going to do. play up the injury/mistake card and reward his upper classmen. you knew that as soon as trindon was yanked for 2 months for fumbling once plus justin starting every game. makes no sense but hey, we're top 5. ill save it for another season like next year when we have a mere mortal at qb and will need to run more effectively. flynn and rp running will be fun to watch thats for sure.

I don't know (and hope it's not) if that's Miles' MO, but there is no doubt that a coach should always field the best at each position and phuck what their classification is. :thumb:

i dont need a coach with a clipboard and video to tell me what my eyes see. Like Im sure mcfadden graded out to an A this past weekend but if not, it really doesnt mean anything. Keiland is continually falling forward even when theres no hole. Plus he gets to the hole as it develops then explodes through it. This has been against the top competition as well. yards per rush is the key indicator when evaluating a back's effectiveness for years and does so here as well.

obviously the bigger issue is not having buster back to return punts from the get-go. Its not rocket science to see who the best returner is and I do think buster is a non-freshman.

you reward players in cupcake games once the outcome is inevitable. otherwise you put your best talent in position to win til they give you reasons otherwise. especially when the ones in front are not producing. vincent is about as good an example as you need to end this discussion. so ill stop there.

    Miles is who he is.

And we as fans will have to live with that, even if it does cost us a game or 2 each year in the loss column, which it undoubtedly will.

I agree that Keiland is obviously superior in 2 categories - quickness to hit the hole & falling forward. However, both he & Scott have not overly impressed the coaches by their ability to find the hole.

The guy had never fielded punts before in his life. I don't blame the coaching staff for waiting a while with him practicing at the position before putting him in it for a game. Instead, I applaud them for finding a guy where no one else had looked.

    :)

It is so sad to see people like yourself, because I know in a year or two you will have to come back here & make a whole thread about how you were wrong.

Ill hope I dont stir up a hornets nest here but this is something Ive wondered and this thread brings the essential point. It seems obvious that Miles doesnt like to play freshman. I agree, Keiland passes the most important test of all, the eye test. I see how he hits holes and explodes. He showed the break away speed. Yet didnt get the PT in the second half, which nearly bit us on the ass with the conservative play calling. Same thing with Holliday, I had wondered why wasnt he back there as a return man. With his quickness. He and someone like Murphey or J Mitchell who have that quickness. Anyways, the question I really have is can Miles take LSU to the next level? I dont want to compare him to Saban, whom I respect but I thought he was a bit too conservative as well. Which nearly lost us the NC game. Saban did play whoever was playing the best though, Ill give him that. LSU is as talented as anyone in the country. Miles is a damn good coach, I still keep my full judgement of him up in the air though. Next year should be more of an indication. We will have a much more favorable schedule. I dont worry about our D, great schemes and we always play well. Its the O that I wonder about. The talent is there. Its to put the best players and schemes to fit our personel. Im not a big fan of Fisher, Ill wait and see about Miles. Being good is one thing, which he is. Can he take us to that next level?
