my assessment too. although near the end of the season it improved, but by that time JV wasnt getting carries.
Didn't we run more of a zone blocking scheme in '03 (ala the Denver Broncos) that was more condusive to Vincent's cut-back style of running. It seems like I've heard or read this somewhere before. If that is the case it wouldn't matter as much that our line is more talented this year. It was more a case of having the perfect running back for that particular style of offense. Since we no longer run it, then maybe it can be expected that Vincent will never be the elite back that he was for half of the '03 season. Maybe he'll get drafted by Denver or Atlanta (they now have the old Denver o-line coach. Warrick Dunn, coincedentaly, is having maybe the best year of his career) at show a return to form. Who knows? In any case, I think it is apparant that Addai is the best back on the team right now and deserves the lion's share of the carries. It would also be hard to take any carries away from Shyrone the way he has been playing.
excellent points though I cant attest whether we did or not it sure seems from memory it was more conducive to jv's style. also i think shy should not carry on consecutive plays. seems to need a breather to maintain his shiftiness.
I think the style and scheme was the same but we did run that slant that gave him the option to cut back just like the Bronco's and now Falcons run all hte time.
Yep, if the back MLB and other tackle go with the play the blockers just keep moving em in that direction and the back cuts back. Denver gained about a zillion yards on that very play with 10 different backs.
I don't know, sometimes Addai looks like a north-south runner. He has that ability, but I don't think that's his strong suit. IMO, someone like Broussard is more built for that. Addai combines the bruiser/slash type running back, and can also catch the ball pretty well.
