There was a lot of trash talking on both sides last night but I think it was a little much. On one play in particular Smith's pass was no where near the receiver but TM7 got in the receivers face and was trash talking and bobbing his head up and down. It's not like he broke up the pass on that play. Don't get me wrong, I have a man-crush on Tyrann but then I am an LSU fan. I know it's part of the game and maybe the guy had it coming, I have no idea what he was saying to Mathieu. It seemed to me there was way too much jawing going on. I prefer less arrogant posturing but I suppose that is a matter of taste. In the ASU-USC game, Matt Barkley was picked off and made the tackle on the int return. The ASU DB who made the pick simply got up, helped Barkley off the ground and patted him on the helmet. There was no getting in his face and striking poses. I like that kind of sportsmanship and it is in short supply in both the pro and college game. But a great win for the Tigers!! :geauxtige
Glad you brought this up. I agree 110%. Instead of strutting around like rooster's in pre-game talking smack, I'd just like to see our DB's get it done on the field first. I like the mean-streak and I don't mean to rain on their parade, but when you talk as much as we do, well...you had better not give up 450 yards passing. You make a good play? Fine. :tigereye: You break up a pass? Fine. :tigereye: You create a pick or force a turnover? No problem. :tigereye: But SHUT YOUR YAP when you're getting beat for a 20--yard pass, or gave up a 3rd and long conversion. :rolleye33: When we talk smack after giving up a big play, we look like morons. :dis:
I agree 100% CLM needs to get this under control and #7 could have pulled a flag for just being stupid on the 3Rd down stop last night. NO NEED for this PP never showed this bunch how to do this and #7 seems to be the King leader of it - I Don't Like it !!!!
I agree 100%. I like some swagger but from what was being reported - as well as what was being seen- we were a bit over the top.
Ya know, a little smack is good for the psyche. But I have to agree, last night was over the top. I say shut up and let your play speak for you. Someone needs to reel these guys in a little.
All the smack talk and posturing gives the whole team a thug-like image, and is very un-:milesmic: like. I really hope :milesmic: cuts that out. A real championship team has to show some class and sportsmanship!
Did ya'll see in the pregame where TM7 was standing with the other DBs on the sideline jawing at the WV receivers while they were running routes? It was funny as heck to me. TM7 looked like a construction worker talking to a hottie walking down the street. I agree it could be reeled in some, but that chit was funny. Also the arms folded-stare into the camera after the INT was priceless. That dude got some serious game and he knows it.
Doesn't seem to take long to go from smack to unsportsmanlike like penalties. Some kids get so caught up in it they lose concentration and start getting beat. That said, the arky game was very chippy, but I thought Bama responded with more licks that lip.
I didn't like it either. Was it Erin Andrews that said that our db's were taunting their receivers prior to the game, during warm-ups? It seems to me that motivates people to up their play, which they did. They picked us apart on short game, and our tackling at times was suspect. But I had to love it when Adams chased that guy down from behind 30 yards down field - that was awesome!
