We have 14 players on this team who played QB in high school (spencer ware, ruben randle, mo claiborne, russell shepard, etc...) the reason they do not play QB is because they are not the best QB for our team. IF they were any better than JJ or JL I am sure we would see them at QB. We can debat the JJ vs JL debacle until the cows come home. Here is what I hope happens: both JJ and JL contribute to beating Bama in the BCSNCG. Then, I hope we quickly put both of them behind us and move on to the next QB for LSU. Neither JJ or JL are very good QB's and as thrilled as I am that they both contributed to a special season this year for the Tigers, I will be glad to see them in the rear view mirror next season.
Yes sir! Count me in too. I say thanks very much for your outstanding loyalty to the tigers and I hope your life leads you to much success. Now with that said, BRING ON THE METT!! Maybe next year LSU will send a qb to new York for a heisman!
Lee was only sacked 4 times this year. JJ has been sacked 10 times since taking over. I haven't seen JJ "extend plays" much .. I've seen him on designed rollouts, but he hasn't saved a ton of plays. .. I've seen just a few take off and runs from the pocket. Usually, he gets sacked. AND .. I still hold to my position. We could've beat Bama with Lee with the right strategy and plays designed to cater to Lee's strength. If the coaches would have had to beat Bama with Lee, they would have found a way. But since they didn't have to, they bailed. I'm holding on to the hope that CLM benched Lee for reason's other than this notion that "jj gives us a better chance to win". Hopefully it was the grades thing ... such that Lee has noone to blame but himself.
What you don't see though is how it forces the defense to respect the fact that Jefferson can take off with the ball. Lee is no threat to run, so they can bring the house, and either get him on the ground or force him to make a stupid throw. I have no doubt we wouldn't have won that game with Lee on the field. And plus his ole' job on tackling Mark Barron after he threw the ball right to him was enough for me to have him on the bench for the rest of the year. Im with the dude who posted earlier though, I'm ready for both of them to go on to whatever they want to do in life, I appreciate the time spent as LSU Tigers, and wish them nothing but luck in the future, but damn, I'm ready for both of them to GEAUX.
You say having a running QB is better for the offense (some merit to that and I believe Miles is with you). I say with a running QB with questionable passing ability it makes it more difficult to run the ball because the defense doesn't respect the pass. It sounds like JJ has had more sacks than Lee, so... Lee has thrown some interceptions (I don't feel he was given a chance to work through Bama like JJ was given vs Georgia), JJ has taken a few intentional grounding penalties and sacks and given away a safety. I think we'd be better off using both QBs wisely, but the guy who makes the decision wants a mobile QB. So be it. I think that's a continuation of the poor handling of QBs for many years and if JJ stinks up the joint and we lose I'll be kind of annoyed.
The Bama game is too fast and physical for JL. He curls up into the fetal position with too much pressure......... it is just a fact. JJ is far more inaccurate with passing, but he has escapability and will require the defense to think about his whearabouts more.......... so, by default, I agree that JJ gives us the best chance to win. I think JL had no chance of "working through" any problems in the Bama game, it is just too big a stage for his skill set. JJ is the much cooler customer between the two. I think a lot can be said about the handling of our QB's, good and bad, but to be honest, Miles has probably done about as well as he could with what he has to work with........... which is two QB's that I will argue would not be starters on any other SEC team, except UK and Ole Miss this year. Both played too early in their career, were not able to grow and mature into better QB's and to be honest, we can all thank Ryan Perriloux for that. Miles has made Lemonade out of lemons with JJ and JL. We may not all agree or like how he handled one or both of them, but the fact is we did OK with having those 2 as our main options at QB for the last 4 seasons.
