1. Do we really want to analyze wth you mean with the "if I had a white friend, and his son wanted to play QB for LSU" remark. As much protesting as has gone on ad nauseum on this board and in this thread about how people don't dislike JJ because he is black, this is a disappointing remark. Personally (and I am not one to call racism), I feel like much of the animosity towards JJ versus JL is, in fact, racial in nature. Sad...especially in 2011.

And the Mannings are LSU fans? Give me some of what msully is smoking! It must be as good as what the suspended players had!

Ah, the good old "anyone could win with this talent" argument. Very tired.

And, finally, another supposed LSU fan hoping Saban bests Miles.

  2. The black white thing is ridiculous.

Here is the reason Jarrett Lee is not playing. Some of you may want to write this down, or snap a screen shot.

Jordan Jefferson brings more to the quarterback position than Lee does because Lee cannot do anything outside of the pocket. Is Jarrett Lee a better pocket passer? Yes, but that pocket isn't always there. Lee has happy feet, he at times just throws the ball to wherever just to get it out, if he gets hit really hard, he is a different quarterback. Jefferson is a below average quarterback inside the pocket, but what he brings to the position with his legs and in the option game, completely trumps anything Jarrett Lee does well.

It's that simple. It really is.
  3. It's been linked here and elsewhere...probably two weeks ago. I didn't link anything about Reid's injury, and the fact he wouldn't play against Arky either.

Since I'M not the one doubting it, why don't those who are do their own research? It's not news anymore...it's old news. It was first 'reported' after the Bama game, but it was rumored as far back as the WVU game...BEFORE JJ came back.
  4. Well, I did a quick search and found the above. I know that Miles prefers a mobile QB, but are you talking about the grades thing or what?
  5. Well, that's poor logic. We've got running backs that can run and Lee proved he can pass. He didn't do well against Bama, but I wouldn't say he was given a chance to work through things either. Lee isn't the greatest QB in the world, but JJ is not light years ahead of him. Lee brings something different to the table, he keeps the defense more honest with more of a vertical passing threat. I really think using both QBs would be the wisest thing to do.

JJ has his positive attributes as well (scrambling QB always poses a threat) and has even proven he can throw pretty well at times. But he's taken a safety when put in a tough spot and made some questionable decisions as well. Play em both. My opinion don't really matter, but whoop there it is.
  6. I don't think it's a question of our needing Jefferson to run. You're right. We have some very good running backs. I do believe it's a question of Jefferson being able to avoid pressure, and maybe even pick up positive yards, and lee getting sacked for a 10 yard loss.

As bad as Jefferson was against Georgia, I think Lee would have been a disaster. Jefferson did not play well, but he didn't turn the ball over.... think about the field position that would have given Georgia. I don't know if Lee would have thrown an interception, but I do believe he would have been sacked many more times than Jefferson.

In the first games of the season, pressure was not too much of a problem. Alabama put pressure on (a lot), Arkansas did (at least dome) and Georgia, surprisingly, did also.

Without pressue, I go with Lee. With pressure, you gotta go with Jefferson.
  7. People can agree or disagree.

What I saw last saturday was the JJ of 2010. Confused, and completely ineffective. If not for Hilliard, Blue, and TM7, and of course, the defense .... AND ..if not for a few dropped TD passes on the part of a young GA WR core ... LSU would have lost that game. Of course, we can go into "what ifs" all we want. LSU did win. .. but it had nothign to do with this notion that JJ gives us the best chance to win. He didn't do shiet.

But I do agree with the punch line of the story. It'll be JJ up their on stage, next to Miles, kissing the Crystal. Sometimes life is not fair, just ask #12 of the #1 team in the nation.

... but for some reason, some die hard homers for LSU want to pretend that there is absolutely nothing wrong with that last sentence. :rolleye33:

For the record Stacey .. I don't want LSU to lose. I want them to win. But like I told issy ... that doesn't erase the pain in a young man's face who's been screwed out of the chance of a lifetime ... for a reason that I MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT AGREE ... that being that JJ gives us the best chance to win. That's just B.S.
  8. Lee was one of the highest rated qb's in the country before jj came back. He won games aginst uo, state and wvu and several other highly ranked teams. To say that he could play qb and lead this team aginst uo and wvu and not aginst ga doesn't make sense. I believe we would still be undefeated if jj wouldve never came back. There was no reason at all that lee shouldve atleast got four or five series in every game this year. He was good enough to beat uo but not arky? WTF. Jj hasn't won any of these game. Defense, st and our running game has won every game. I'm damn glad he and lee are playing their last game. I'm ready to say thanks very much for your service to lsu and see ya. The era of the mett is here and I won't ever have to watch jj butcher an offense at lsu again.

I hope jj plays well in the championship game. If he plays like the first half of the ga game and we lose the bcsnc it will be entirely on clm for failing to stick with the two qb system.

  9. Lee cannot handle pressure (and i don't mean pressure of the big game, i mean the blitz and when he is forced to make a quick decision). This isn't rocket science. He cannot extend plays outside the pocket. Alabama's defense is way too good for him to have any success, unless they decide they are going to drop back and only rush 3 the entire game. This is why Lee was successful in the early going. For every other team I would have no problem with Lee being the starter. For Alabama, I don't even want him to sniff the field unless it's to kneel for a victory.
