That isn't nice to say, but anyone who denies it's true is lying to themselves. He was done after Hightower's late hit on him...before EITHER INT. The INTs were a direct result of him mentally checking out. It is what it is. Maybe he'll get a chance to redeem himself in the BCSNCG.
Im not trying to be mean...but he just has not been the same after that happened, that is all i was saying and its nothing against lee....i love all my tigers the same and im proud of each and everyone of them for giving us the season they have given us, i just hope he can get some sense of confidence back....
Did Matt Flynn mentally check out when he threw 3 INTs against Bama in '07? How about when he threw 2 INTs against LaTech the same year? I find it amazing people say Lee can't handle it when he has the best QB rating in the SEC and is sitting at 14 TDs and only 3 INTs. Through this same time frame Flynn had 17 TDs and 10 INTs, yet no one questioned his abilities. The truth is Lee has never been given a chance to make up for 2 bad passes while trying to make something happen against Bama. The INTs weren't due to mentally checking out, they were due to trying to make something happen. He wasn't afraid when he threw those passes, he was trying to force a throw because they were having trouble moving the ball. I don't care to discuss why that is, I just find it amazing that people are so easy to write Lee off even after he's shown he can handle pressure last year and this year. If you want to fault him for anything, fault him for trying to be a gunslinger.
see, this is where you need to use all those fancy degrees and do some research. either that or you are anti-academics. lsu football is completely self-sustaining. no tax dollars involved. zip. none. nada. so much so, that the athletic department has enough revenue generated that they donate (to the tune of millions) to the academic side of the university. so if lsu is "draining your tax dollars", it is the academic arm of the university. because they are the ones taking tax dollars. not athletics.
When did Lee get a chance do redeem himself? He never played after the bama game unless you want to count taking a knee. What happens if JJ gets hurt in the rematch? Lee never had time on the field to work out any quirks. I just think the Ga game would have been a perfect time for us to find out. Okie, I agree with you on the funding or non funding should I say of the athletic dept. Tigers pay for themselves. They pull in enough revenue to do so.
Boy I'm glad I didn't click this thread or read it until today. I knew lee wouldn't play last week. He most likely won't play another significant down again as a tiger. I hope the best for his future. He played well enough all year to deserve a chance to redeme himself , IMO. I'm glad it's a fresh start next year.
yeah, i got queasy reading it too. this thread is exhibit "a" for why god invented the ignore feature.
That is really all I've meant to say. He deserved the chance, but didn't get it. And I agree with your earlier post some time back .. the minute JJ came back, Lee began to decline. I'll leave the speculation as to why to everyone else. .. though I have my opinion on it, pretty much already implied. Ok ... I stand corrected on the tax dollar thing. But me being an academic, I"ll say I"m hardly anti-academic.
