But isn't that what a good coaching staff should do? Utilize your offense based upon what you are best suited for???

That's NOT to suggest Randal isn't a top-flight talent. But you feed the passing game off of the running. Especially when you've got the stable of backs LSU has traditionally had.

Lee seemed to recognize the one on one coverage on the outside and put it up there a few times to let the WR make a play. I didn't see any of those throws into double coverage so that tells me he's doing a pretty good job of recognizing the safeties.

Although I was expecting Lee to put up better numbers, I'm even more confident in his abilities going forward than I was before the game.

Overall you guys are right. Bottom line, Lee has been given a clean slate, and he needs to earn his new reputation whether its good or bad.

I love this team to death, may end up being my favorite defense of all time, but I still have huge concerns and question marks about our passing attack, or ability to sustain drives when we have to put the ball in the air.

It has been said a million times, one solid QB away from a 3rd crystal ball!

    Million and one

In an interview before practice today, Lee said he really started getting nervous when he got to the stadium and didn't calm down until the half. Making his first big game start in 2+ years then throw in a few mental "Pick 6" demons rattling around his brain, and it's amazing that he did as well as he did.

I think he's going to settle down more and more each week, but still needs to figure out how to keep from flinching when pressured. The better he is protected, the better he will be.

He has a second chance, whether you think he deserves it or not, so let's see how he looks after Moo State before we pass judgement. Take the glass half full viewpoint for now.

This young man has been thrusted into some serious situations. He throws a great pass.
Solid arm. I sure wish he could run a little bit though. If the team continues to rally around
him and the rest of the TigerNation doesn't go haywire with an interception- he will continue to gain confidence. He looks a little "gun-shy" and weary- but that's to be expected. This next game is an extremely important one. Not to pad Stats, but to prove
further that he is a leader. I think he may even throw an INT early on, but it would be good to see him connect on a few tosses over 30+ yds.

I thought Lee looked good, he managed the game, executed the plays. I thought he looked like, he knew what he was doing. His accuracy, I couldn't really tell, but he wasn't connecting with his receivers often enough. He was careful not to hurt the team, and he didn't. Overall, I thought he had a very solid game.

I've heard he's lost weight, but he's a leadfoot. I also think he puts too much air under the ball on longer passes, your big receivers will help him there. The Ducks only had heavy pressure on him a few times, but I could tell he doesn't handle it well.

Once, while being very heavily pressured, I saw Lee's eyes get big, and he was totally focused on finding a place to lay down. He looked a little scared, my opinion. That's very harsh, but that's the way it seemed to me,.. but it was only one play.

Slow, not good under pressure, who lofts the ball downfield.
LSU had better give him great pass protection.

Overall, he's a very good, serviceable QB, I think he could lead LSU all the way to New Orleans. He's no Joe Montana though, and frankly, from what I saw, he's the Tiger's weakest link.

I know that I've only seen him play this one, first game, of the season.

I think he will continue to improve throughout the year.

    Just my opinion

Oh he deserves his shot, there is nobody else on the team that has supported his number one in his back up role more then Lee did JJ. Coaches say Lee is the man, he us the man.

He has all the support in the world and 08' is behind most of us, me for sure

As for protection, I don't think he ask for more from those hog mollies on the o-line

Glass half full for sure, I more excited for him to have a huge game 300plus yards, 3 TD's, FOR LEE himself, the kid could really use it mentally.

We have to take into account that the ducks may have an exceptional defensive backfield. We will see just how good they really are as the season progresses.
Lots of the passes were broken up by good play by the ducks. As the receivers spend more time working with lee, he will get into sync with them and the young receivers will get better holding on to the ball. Lee will do better as the season progresses and I'm looking forward to him making some good throws.

Here's my take on Jarret Lee......(not that anyone gives a crap) He's a high character kid I would love to see him have a great season.....but in order for that to happen, he has to slow the game down, the game is still moving very fast for him, you can see it in his play, releasing the ball a little late, throws a little behind recievers, his feet start bouncing when pressure is on. I think the more he continues to get those first team reps, and game snaps the more the game will slow down for him, when he's to that point you will see him be productive...which for LSU ....means many victories.
