I am not bitching yet. Hopefully he will get more time with Krag to help him improve a little on what he already has. (He seems to drop way to far back after snaps)

Hopefully they will let have a pass party with Northwestern State.

A little off topic, but Robert Smith gave Boise State an A because of their defense and LSU got a B because we had to score off turnovers.

With football season comes ESPN analysts taking cracks at LSU. We better get used to it. The question on "First Take" was: Was Oregon that bad or LSU that good? The consensus answer was that Oregon was clearly overrated, was missing key players and that James was hampered because his ankle was stepped on. We all know had that been Bama instead of LSU we would be hearing a drowning drumbeat about Saban and the greatest defense in college football history. It is what it is and always will be what it is. We could be complaining about this until January but I hope not.

i think hes been one guy who started terrible and has gotten worse as a so-called analyst. he.is.terrible. i hear about 5 mins of him a week and its always wrong. not only hates the sec but uninformed about it. not to mention he has the personality of a big-10 offense.

The thing I liked about the long pass to Beckham (besides the INCREDIBLE catch of it) was that:

a). It wasn't over-thrown by 15 yards like we've seen in the past

    ...and...

b). Wasn't underthrown (those usually end up allowing the defender to catch up and make a play on)

So, yeah, he put JUST a WEEEEEE bit more on it, but I'd rather have it in a place that the only player that CAN make a play on it is our own

After watching again without first game emotions involved, I thought he did pretty good. The touch pass to DP was beautiful. With some more reps and fine tuning we may actually have a respectable passing game.

Remember most of our receivers were in their first big game and Lee was prob. A little jacked with some of the throws. I also like the fact that Lee had time to walk up and survey the defense and find the pressure. With Crowton it looked like a Chinese fire drill with motion and personal. Our qb had too much to worry about instead of just execution.:thumb:

Lee had mentioned in an interview the week before the game that Coach K had helped him read the defenses better.

If you look at the last 5 years, it appears Les favors a balanced attack between the pass and the run...from 2006 to 2009 we only slightly favored the run (during those 4 years we only ran it 55%, 58%, 56%, and 56%), which is similar to Boise State's offense over the last 4 years (5 years ago they were 64% run, but have been at 53% run in the 4 years since). Last year we started going more run first (64% run), which is what Saban did during his 2 best years at Bama, 08 and 09 (63% and 64% run...they were only 56% run last year and didn't do as well). Our going to 64% run last year is also how TCU did it during their last 3 seasons (63%, 65%, 64% run). But I don't think we went to heavy run last year to be more like bama and TCU, I think we are doing it because of our lack of talent at QB and receiver in comparison to what we have at RB

THIS!!! ... I think Lee needs a pass party to put the past behind him. Take away the pick 6s of 2008, and his stats didn't look bad at all.

I'm hoping that Les will run his power game, get the lead, and let Lee and the WRs gel a bit, so that the passing game becomes a factor.

I can definitely agree with this. I do think we have to shelter the game from our QBs to a degree to win until we get a good SEC QB. For instance, under Matty Flynn, Les had no problem mixing the pass and the run. I'm just saying that under guys like Lee and Jefferson who aren't exactly shooting the lights out game in and game out, Les is going to keep the ball on the ground more unless it gets significantly out of hand. He may want balance, but he sort of knows better than to do so right now, and that is why the passing numbers look so bad, not necessarily because the QBs are just plain incapable.
