If youse guys thought the QB controversy of 2005 was bad, get a load of what's in store for us in 2006:

1-J. Russell, who had by all accounts a solid year in 2005...but is working to overcome not one but two injuries.

2-M Flynn, who finally hung the moon against a high-caliber opponent...and has some mobility to boot.

3-"The Chosen One" (aka RP), who is lurking in the shadows, primed to make a Vince Young-like jump past the starting QB as RP enters his redshirt freshman season.

I've been a RP pimp from the moment he signed up with the Tigers, but I feel the best player should play.

Imagine that Jimbo Fisher is squarely in the JR camp, while Les Miles has to ensure that RP be given every chance to win the job (with RP his one and only 5-plus star recruit so far at LSU, not giving RP a legit shot may cost him the next time a stud comes out of Louisiana).

Plenty of fur is going to fly on this board over this one by the start of next season, I'm sure. Should be fun to watch!

LOL...the "JR throws too hard" excuse is totally asinine.

Whenever the "who was the greatest NFL QB ever" argument comes up, John Elway is part of that discussion , and few if any threw the ball harder than #7.

Fact is, JR had a good season that coulda been better if he had a healthy right wrist and a healthy Addai and Broussard for the full season.

Going to the pros with not one but two injuries would be bad enough, but this is not a good year for him to come out as there are really good QBs out there as well.

It wouldn't shock me if all of the following went before JR in the 2005 draft (in no real order):

    -Jay Cutler
    -Omar Jenkins
    -Matt Leinart (of course)
    -VY (of course)

I know it's sort of comparing an apple to an orange, but being the 5th QB selected in the 2005 NFL Draft meant you were drafted in the...3rd round.

If JR fought for and kept the starting job in 2006---and made another leap in terms of becoming a better QB in the process---he'd be right up there with the best of them, right behind Brady Quinn and right there with Troy Smith (who else is there? Chris Leak??)

True dat, though one would think that #10 was the true offensive MVP in 2005.

Actually it is Russell that has the tattoo that says "THE CHOSEN ONE". Perrilloux is the one who boasted to start and win the Heisman as a freshman. Flynn is the one who will have a T-shirt that says "MVP of the Friggin' Peach Bowl".

Lack of ego will not hamper our quarterbacks in the spring.

not really sure what size bong you're smoking but you wouldn't be shocked if they went ahead of jamarcus? lemme go ahead and kill the surprise. jamarcus has zero chance of going ahead of any of those guys since he has almost no chance of getting drafted. those 4 could be gone in the first round.

I agree that those other guys would definitely go before JR, but I think JR would still get drafted around the 4th round.

not with that wrist injury since he wont be able to perform at the combine. slightly >0 chance of getting drafted if that.
