Hester is very dependable and he catches defenses by surprise. He doesnt fumble and he can help us win the time of possesion battle. I think he is going to be an all SEC player, listed as a FB. Get him the ball, there is plenty to go around this season.

Pretty much correct, in addition to that I'd add that I was trying to say results are all that matters and Hester was a great producer in this game. If the plays designed for him weren't working, they would have moved on to something else. If the plays designed for him don't work vs Aubie, they'll try something else. If Auburn doesn't cover him coming out of the backfield, they'll use Jacob to to help move the chains.

All hester does is make plays. If our "speed" guys made the plays, hester would not even be metioned. All I know is positive things happen with the ball in his hands. Plus, JR seems to use him as a security blanket when our "speed" guys are covered (how do our "great speed" guys become covered down field anyway?) Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, enjoy hester while we can.

I don't think anybody is anti-hester on the boards. I've only heard positives about how he's played. The only thing I'd say is he's getting a ton of touches. I think we used him in the AZ game to burn out the clock. Let's face it. JV isn't coming back. W/e he had in '03 is gone. If Ally truely is not 100% no1 is as dependable as Hester for pounding it in there. Sure we've got great freshman, just unproven. Honesty though, I think they've been saving Ally B. for Auburn. It makes perfect sense. Play the "He's not 100% role." and then show up to Auburn and smack them in their teeth.

I think Jacob Hester is the key to next Saturday's game.

He is part of it. The key to Auburn is fresh legs at RB and we have plenty of them.

Just the opinion of an outsider, but if I had my pick of any 2 RB's out of LSU's stable, it would be a ninety-percent-Broussard and Hester.

JV and Scott may develop further - who knows - but for right now, AB and JH are the class of the position. Again, JMO. :thumb:

Exactly what I was thinking. If the only thing we can complain about is putting a great player on the field then I'm happy.

Hester is a natural tailback. Nick played him at fullback as a freshman to get him into the game. He's the only fullback who ever carried the ball. The other LSU fullbacks are small, quick guards who line up in the backfield and knock linebackers down.

Wanting AB or JV in place of Hester is the same as wanting Flynn over JR. People think it's good but it could be better. I don't see it. I see LSU 90, Opponents 6. I have no criticisms.
